12 fl oz. can, with no apparent freshness date present. Acquired this oddity as part of a mixed six pack at the local Binny's. I have had other beers from Wild Onion Brewing Co. before and I remember enjoying them, so I'm excited to have this.
Poured into a clear balloon snifter.
A - Pours a big bright beautiful orange colored body with some tiny specks of sediment and two and a half fingers of fluffy creamy doughy off-white head. Very nice scattered lacing. I gotta say, this looks pretty damn good.
S - Smell is very fruity and floral. Lavender, honey, yeast must, bread dough, some herbal pine, and a slight anise sort of spice in there somewhere.
T - Taste brings in more of the same: dry earthiness, honey, biscuit malt, herbal / floral Cascade hop bitterness, & some lemon / pine citrus zest.
M - Feel is smooth & creamy, crisp & light, with some dry herbal piney bitterness on the finish. Extremely light-bodied and easy drinking, with good carbonation.
Overall, I thought this was a great pale ale. Definitely everything I think a pale ale should be - light, crisp, refreshing, & hoppy. I'm not sure why this has such poor ratings. I guess Wild Onion is pretty small though, and not many people are able to try their beers. I however, will look forward to more.

A: Pours a hazy golden orange in color with minimal amounts of visible carbonation and some orange + amber highlights. The beer has a finger tall dense foamy light beige head that slowly reduces to a thin film covering the entire surface of the surface of the beer with a couple of small slightly thicker patches and a thick ring at the edges of the glass. Moderate amounts of lacing are observed.
S: Moderate aromas of caramel malts with some light aromas of pine hops and some citrus/orange hops.
T: Upfront there are moderate flavors of caramel malts without a lot of sweetness along with some moderate flavors of citrus/orange hops (sort of a mandarin orange flavor). There are some lighter notes of pine and herbal hops as well. Light to moderate amounts of bitterness which fade pretty quickly.
M: Just shy of medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Crisp and smooth.
O: Probably closer to the IPA end of APAs, there is a little more bitterness and hop flavor than I expected for the style. Enjoyable and pretty easy to drink but nothing about the beer really stands out. Slightly strange how the citrus/orange have a slightly syrupy sweet taste.

Pours a cloudy, golden/orange color. 2/3 inch head of a white color. Great retention and great lacing. Smells of citrus hops, floral hops, slight sweet malt, slight alcohol, and a hint of pale malt. Mouth feel is smooth and crisp, with an average carbonation level. Tastes of floral hops, hops, hint of earthy malt, slight sweet malt, and a hint of alcohol. Overall, good appearance, decent aroma, and decent blend.
