Very impressed by this little 12 oz can. I wasn't expecting anything from it, and hadn't had anything from the brewpub before. Grabbed a can because I love stouts and saw it as a new release in Champaign, IL.
It fits right into the sweet spot of stouts that I love. It tastes more like a great dry stout than an oatmeal stout--a little lighter on the body than you might expect for the oatmeal style.
The flavor is extremely roasty--I love that kind of beer. Delicious, in my eyes. Comparable to a beer like the North Coast Old #38. Maybe even better. A perfect session beer, although the alcohol might be a little too high to do half a dozen. Still, I'd be tempted to try.
Regardless, I think of this as more of a dry stout, and it surprisingly vaults up to being one of the best I've ever had. I've got to make a note to try some of this brewery's other stuff.

Appearance was black with thin tan head.
Smell is roasted coffee and chocolate
Taste is the same as the nose, black coffee, coco, and roasted malts. Pretty straight forward but pretty good.
Mouthfeel to me was a bit thin..very smooth and not really lacking flavor but a little watery.
Overall I enjoyed this on the most part. It's pretty straight forward but that's not always bad. Very easy to drink.
