This isn't a great beer, but it is good. Looks as it should. Yellow/gold/red amber and sufficiently cloudy. Tannish head with some firmness.
Largely hop aroma with a fullness and body and some firmness. This one isn't that distinct, but of a general hop aroma.
Big enough and firm mouthfeel. Well rounded hop flavors start to finish with a flavorful and enjoyable lingering bitterness.
Nothing distinct, but solid and enjoyable.

A: The pour was bright orange from the can, appearing a dark autumn orange in the vessel. Strong micro-effervesce, creamy, light tan head is moderate of stay. Lacing is speckled spots forming a broken band.

S: Toasted cereal, light perfumy floral notes, toasted orange peel, with a warming citrus grass hoppiness. The strength is rather weak, especially for a d.i.p.a. and for one aptly named hop slayer. Woodsy pine, lighty dry citrus finishes things out.

T: Thin start, a bit of watery bread, toastedness backing, with some dry pine and bittering citrus. High degree of hop bitterness, though not really flavorful, more linear, and a bit muddled. Grassy toasted pine, nice bite but fades off the tongue rather quickly and cleanly, not lingering around to pay regards. Toasted tomato skin, peppery spice with some parsley and spicy chili-herbal warmth from the alcohol.

M: Creamy mouthful, soup like texture, medium bodied, spicy, chili-citrus booziness warmth.

O: Good level of bitterness, though the flavor could of been brighter, and sharper. Things seem a bit muddled, monotoned. A marginally decent beer (b-) if you are micro-analyzing during review, a bit subpar if you are drinking casually. You might be a bit disappointed with a name like hop slayer, has a low aroma, low key complexity, and not really tasty, bland bitterness. average c standing at best.

Poured into a snifter. Burnt orange in color, and is very hazy and bold. I can not see my fingers through the beer. No head really even begins to form on this one, but the ring on the side of the glass leaves a mild amount of lacing. Those 100 IBUs are immediately noticeable from the first whiff. Hoppy resin dominates, but some piney and orange notes are definitely there in the background. On the front, middle, and back of the tongue, bitter hops seem to be all that is relevant to this one. Who needs a malty backbone anyways? This is an easy one to slug, but your palate is just destroyed. Left Coast should just forfeit the name Hop Juice to these guys.

Overall: One dimensional, but it's a solid dimension.
