look: 3.75 | smell: 3.25 | taste: 3 | feel: 3.25 | overall: 3.25

Appearance- Very orange, thin frothy top, cloudy enough not to see through it. Looks like a good brew from the looks of it.

Nose- Malt, some creamy pumpkin notes. Some spice to it. A little sweetness lingers.

Taste- Pumpkin puree rather than pie-like. A lot less sweet then a lot of other pumpkin ales but pumpkin flavored nonetheless. A little bitterness although not hoppy, some toasted gingerbread adds a nice quality. Subtle wash of alcohol at the end with some tartiness.

Mouthfeel- Thin and slightly watery, I expected something a little more robust for a fall seasonal. Enough alcohol for a small warming effect on the finish leaving a thin coat on the palate.

Overall- First beer I've had from Wild Onion. A nice deviation to the overdone absurdly sweet pumpkin beers around. However, the taste lacked that oomph that I had hoped for that separates the great pumpkin ales from the rest.

12oz. can poured into a snifter.

(A)- Pours a pale orange color. Some white froth.

(S)- A lighter graiy aroma. Bits of light honey sweetness. Extremely subtle pumpkin in the aroma.

(T)- Slight graininess meets a light sweetness. Very slight pumpkin hints sadly.

(M)- A good carbonation level but the feel of this beer is far too light and not much pumpkin to speak of. A light beer meets tiny bits of pumpkin.

(O)- Probably my least favorite I tried this season so far. It just lacks any real flavors or aroma for the style for me.

12 oz. can, with no apparent canned on or freshness date present. My second beer from Wild Onion Brewing Co., expectations are about average since I know next to nothing about this brewery.

Poured into a Firestone Walker pint glass.

A - Pours just under two fingers of foamy beige / off-white head on top of a nice hazed burnt orange colored body with some bubbles lazily floating topside. Looks ideal for the style.

S - Smell is of the usual suspects: creamy pumpkin puree, cinnamon, brown sugar, nutmeg, thyme, and other herbal spice rack notes. Smells suited to style, although most pumpkin beers never smell like much to me.

T - Taste is pretty standard, but tasty. Some sugary cola, crisp carbonation, pumpkin puree, brown sugar, cinnamon sticks, and some other assorted spices. Spiced cola taste is most prominent to me.

M - Feel is lightly sticky. Mostly smooth, crisp, and clean. Moderate carbonation akin to what I imagine a pumpkin soda would be like.

Overall, a pretty generic and "safe" pumpkin beer offering from Wild Onion Brewing Co. Fairly generic and one-dimensional in it's attack, but it is a solid autumnal offering, and would probably make for a safe gateway beer for those that are new to the style. Looking forward to more from these guys.
