"Oak aged strong ale brewed with Belgian candi sugar".
Not especially oaky or mighty, it is a strong ale however.
Into a tumbler glass it pours a tawny brown with reddish highlights. The creamy tan foam leaves a sticky collar around the edges in a thin sheet. Slightly murky clarity.
Muted malty nose, slight yeasty notes of raisin and plum in the background. Mild woody tobacco that hints at an oak barrel. Flavors are similar, malt focused with some fruity esters chiming in late. Dry finish, hinting again at oak-aging. Residual malty flavors. Second time having it, there's a bit more nuanced oak vs the first time, it definitely requires time to appreciate. This is worth a try.
