Had a half pour at Beachwood yesterday, and I was taken back just a bit by this one. Pours like a foamy apple cider with a thin sudsy head sitting atop a dirty, cloudy brown body with very nominal lacing. The nose was very much of the holiday season: cinnamon, nutmeg, faint fig, and bold red apple notes. The taste profiles did not waver much from this. Lots of spice notes on the front palate with a slightly dense, dry fruit finish. Again, a big apple crispness and flavor. At the same time, the flavors felt a bit one-dimensional. Slightly chewy but a pleasant finish. Overall, this was a very interesting beer, and I would likely go back for another if given the opportunity.

330ml bottle from Beers of Europe (£2.61):
Dark caramel to mahogany with a foamy, light beige head that's just under 1cm tall with some bubbles around the sides & surface. Dark fruits, caramel malts & faint roasted notes open the nose with some spices & nutmeg, toffee, figs & prunes coming through; it's rich without being overly pronounced but the balance is pretty good. Caramel & toffee malts adding a nice sweetness, then dark fruits that carry over from the nose; prunes, figs & some raisin mainly. It's slightly spicy with a tiny bit of booziness but goes down very well with nutmeg, cinnamon & biscuit to finish. It's well-carbonated & balanced with a subtle bitterness at the end.

Bottle-conditioned, pour according to your taste for sediment.
L- Deep ruby-chestnut, poured with slight haze (much sediment left in bottle). 2Cm ultra-fine bubble pale tan head, holding very well (conts. to hold well right through + forms copious lacing)
S- Deep roasted grains, and a streak of scent through it... my first thought was cherry jam...
T- A roasty-toasty start, going into quite a hoppy-bright palate for a 7% beer. I still detect a mildly sour facet, sour cherry?... I'm not sure
F- The latter two elements balance well together yielding a versatile year-round beer.
O- I like it, it's well put together, and seems something a little different for a Belgian Dubbel.
Bought from BeersOfEurope (UK) £2.59. 330ml bottle BBE: Feb/2020 (the retailer did pre-warn on the short BBE date, but at 7.0% I was not concerned).
ps. Lable is now updated, featuring the monk and his beer and some of the text, but overall it's less trad looking/more contemporary in design.

Pours a murky dark brown color with a medium top of beige head. Aroma is of roasted malts, caramel, matured dark fruits, brown sugar and spices. The taste is sweet with a malty presence in the back and notes of fruits and caramel. The flavour the gets a good presence of spices before finishing with a decent bitterness. The aftertaste is a little weak, but else is fairly good balanced. Mouthfeel us smooth and silky with a moderate carbonation and a medium body.
A good dubbel, but it lacks that little extra.

Brown reddish color with a thick beige head with great retention and leaving laces.
Nice aroma with notes of prunes and plums, orange marmalade, mild cinnamon, caramel and biscuit malts, a bit of banana and roses.
Flavor with notes of tea, lots of flowers, brown sugar, orange marmalade with peel, toffee, prunes, some chocolate, cinnamon, sour dough, a bit of banana, grapes, figs, medicinal herbs and Belgian yeast. Dry aftertaste with a mild to medium bitterness.
Light to medium body with appropriate carbonation. No way this is 7% abv, amazing.
This might have been the easiest to drink Dubbel I had (within style), still quite complex. Lighter body with refreshing citrusy, vinous and floral notes that interplay with the expected style flavors.

Color: dark brown, with visible flecks in the middle. Head very abundant, creamy, dirty white in color.
Aroma: dark fruit, plums, blackberries, a lot of spices.
Taste: Again dark fruit, caramel, spices, or even vanilla. There is also the slight hint of alcohol, giving the beer liqueur character.
Gentian: herbal, grassy, quite long. High saturation.
