Pours a hazy reddish brown with a large slowly dissipating beige head. Aroma and Taste is caramel malt, Belgian yeast, some essence of dried fruit, dates and figs with some mild sweet tart bitterness. Palate is a medium body, good carbonation with a pleasant sweet dark fruit and malt flavor. Finishes with a sweet caramel malt, dark fruits and Belgian yeast with some mild sweet bitter notes on the end for balance. Overall a good flavorful and tasty brew.

A bottle picked up in Bruges in December. This beer is from lot C with a confusing BB date of June 12 or 13, both are notched.

A-Poured into a wide mouth glass this beer cascades into 2 fingers of tan head that recedes to a fairly thin layer that laces the glass a bit. Typical appearance of a dubbel except this one is a little darker brown then most.

S-Oh oh, this one has a bit of a funky aroma, not typical of a dubbel for sure.

T-Yep definitely infected. Tastes like a sour brown ale. Somewhat sour and tart with tastes of tobacco and cherries.

Overall this is obviously an infected bottle. Bummer I'd rather have tried the dubbel! Taste isn't too bad and I managed not to drain pour this. I wonder if this brewery is having issues with their bugs.

Review from 6/2010 notes. Poured into a Gulden Draak tulip. Pours a ruby amber, with a rich persistent off-head head leaving lots of lacing. Nice dark and light fruit and malt aroma. Medium creamy mouth feel. Flavor of dried and fresh light fruit and sweet malt. Fruit, malt middle and finishes with a light tartness. A great enjoyable dubbel.

33ml bottle. No dates.

Bottle is nearly filled to the crown. Pop the top and... GUSHER! Lost some Biere to foam on this bad boy, oh well.

Huge head at first, dissipates rather fast with spotty lacing. Mahogany with orange-red highlights.

Aroma is somewhat oxidized and acetic, but not too bad. Lots of cherry and raisin, with a funky note.

Flavor is very complex and fruity. Lots more cherry and grape, coupled with a yeasty-estery character. Sweet toffee notes are buoyed by the oxidation, which is readily apparent. Dry and surprisingly clean finish. Hugely effervescent mouthfeel, medium-light weight.

This is a very interesting brew, though I'm not so sure what to make of it. Has a lot of character, but it is pretty darn oxidized and possibly infected.
