Slightly hazy golden-straw colour. Aroma of hay, alcohol, faint crabapple, random yeast notes. Watery, grassy, lightly grainy taste. Clean but bland, especially in the finish. A brief wheaty yeasty appearance of flavor, but generally a tonic and flavorless.

Golden pour, small white head that pops away fast, leaving just a thin lace.
Smell of sweet malts, some blond fruit, some faint honey, corn puffs. So it's probably gonna be sweet.
Yep. Big sweet malty taste, corn syrup, hints of honey. Fruity with some berries, apricots, hidden way underneath tho. Light spices, mild bitter finish with a metallic note that doesn't clean up the sweet start.
Very light for its syrupy taste, rather fizzy. Cloying aftertaste.
Drinkable, but just too sweet.

The bottle proclaims that this is an ale, although it tastes like any other Euro lager out there... odd.

It pours a golden yellow that is just slightly cloudy with one finger or so of head that dissipated very quickly. It is difficult to make out anything in terms of the aroma of the beer. When I first cracked the cap open it was super skunked, but after the skunkiness settled down, it just gives off a slight bready smell with a faint malt. I really cannot make out anything else.

The taste was good - I initially tasted just sweetness from the malt, although I later had a blast of bitterness when it went down my throat - it was somewhat unexpected, but pleasant at the same time. There is a lot of carbonation, which, being a Ukrainian, I can say is very typical of Ukrainian beer. The aftertaste is a wee bit bitter, but this only lingers for like 5 seconds or so - it isn't a persistent problem when drinking this beer.

I recently reviewed the Obolon Lager, which got a pretty low score from me. This beer from Obolon is a serious improvement over it, but I still rank it below Obolon Svitle, which is just a damn good drinking beer.

A: The beer is clear straw yellow in color and has a moderate amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a finger high bright white head that died down, leaving a thin head covering the surface and some lacing down the sides of the glass.
S: Faint aromas of grainy malts and skunk are present in the nose.
T: The taste has flavors of adjunct and grainy malts along with notes of grassy hops, green apples and skunk plus a slight amount of bitterness.
M: It feels light-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer isn't that difficult to drink, but the green bottle and trip across the pond might contribute to the light amount of skunkiness in the aroma and taste.

A finger of head on a hazy, medium straw colored body. It looks better than most.
The aroma is a dirty barnyard, a little musty grain. Not offensive but not good either.
The taste has a medium bitterness throughout and finishes on a sweet note. A nice and simple profile.
The texture is crisp with a bit too much carbonation.
I still put this above average. I could see myself throwing these down in some small, southern Ukrainian town... come to think of it, I have.

500ml bottle, 5.2% ABV. The word 'Ale' is prominent in its presence on the label, and interesting, depending on how one might approach the offerings of this brewery.

This beer pours a slightly hazy, pale straw colour, with two fingers of flatly foamy, dirty white head, which leaves some blotchy seaside cave lace around the glass as it efficiently abates.

It smells of bready cereal grain, cut dead grass and overripe hay, with a mild musty funkiness. The taste is more cereal-oriented bready pale malt, a softly innocuous generic fruitiness, and decently forward wild grass and hayseed graininess, with only the meekest of green-bottle skank essence bleeding through.

The carbonation is average in its supportive duties, the body medium-light in weight, but only just so, and the smoothness agreeable enough in its inoffensiveness. It all finishes sweetly grainy, of the aforementioned sort, and farmer's field hoppy, but in more of a bland, muddled manner.

Well, not the mess I was anticipating, given the general classification and label confusion (what is with the Ale proclamation, anyway?), but rather a so-so attempt at a middle European pilsner archetype. They mostly succeed, as the unfortunately expected industrial runoff essences are kept to a minimum here. I'd have another of these, actually.

500ml bottle. Lager glass. Enjoyed on jun´12. Bright pale gold in color & crystal clear appearance. White, close froth. Fairly well retention crown. Herbal & citric aromas with a subtle yeasty touch, corn grain hues. Clean bitterness & citric wedge flavor. Crispy, slightly sparkling in the middle. Light body. Moderate carbonation. Smooth & malty palate. Long bitter finish. Above the medium average of the Style. Nice drinkability. Good Pale Lager session beer.

500 ml bottle. Pours hazy straw with a long lasting white head. Aroma is of hay and some grassy hops. Body is medium and smooth. Taste is of bready malt, some grassy hops, citrus and apple. Finish is short and slightly sweet. I would not buy a second bottle of this.

Packaging: 500ml green bottle, pry-cap
Glassware: Willi Becher
Purchased: Single from Aleksey's Market, Nashville

Appearance is a clear, bright straw color. Head is white and creamy and stands 4 fingers high, with good lacing and very good retention.

Aromas are typical for the style, of cut grass and hay, plus a bit of spiciness and funk.

Taste is crisp, showing low hop bitterness balanced against a light pale malt sweetness. Mouthfeel is clean and highly carbonated. The body is in the thin to medium range. The beer finishes slightly dry and spicy, with a slight bitter aspect.

Overall this is a decent example in the pale lager category - not a flashy beer, but I enjoyed it for what it is. A good cold beer to reach for on a hot day.

Out of a bottle this beer was a pale golden color with one finger of off-white head. The retention was poor and there was no lacing to speak of. The aroma was of adjunct grains, booze, pale malt and lager yeast. The flavors were boozy and reminded me of a Euro Strong Lager; more like a punchy malt liquor without the finesse the style can show. Grainy, dry and rather ‘coarse’ like that jerk who invited himself to the party and just won’t leave. A slighter bitter hoppy finish added something to it, but not much. The body was light/medium, the carbonation low and the mouthfeel a little watery. Boo.

Pour: Typical lager look. Yellow and no head at all
Smell: Bit of a skunk smell similar to Heineken or Becks
Taste: A litter bitterness, no real malt or hops taste. Very similar to Heineken or Becks. A typical euro lager.
An okay beer but a bit disappointed. Was hoping for a bit more
