Thanks to beerbeing for including this in my ba anniv. pacakage. Bronze foil on top. Caged and plastic corked. Thanks sucker is tight.
Pours a bronze reddish color with a one finger cream colored head. Bubbly on one side of the glass and smooth like algae on the other. Retention of thin bubbles dissipates rather quickly. Looks a bit carbonated to me. Champagne like aromas with a cherry infusion. Slight boozyness and red wine like notes. Slight grape aromas also. Yeasty notes come through towards the end of the bottle as you get the sludge off the bottom. Changes quite a bit from the beginning compared with the end--no consistency to this brew.
Fake cherry concentrate coupled with a thin body mouthfeel. Huge blast of figs hit the taste buds first leaving a thick malt coating on the tip of the tongue. Slight caramel notes coupled with the figs masquerade as a dubbel not a quad. As the beer warms and gets towards the bottom the brew becomes more drinkable. Yeastyness comes through in a bigger way and coats the palate more so then at first. Cherry fruit notes come through but only as a background player. Drinkable, but the consistency is absolutely terrible. Mouthfeel is damn nice as it warms, but at the outset it isn't good at all. I think I'd pass on this if had the chance again.

Got this bottle in a BIF a couple of years ago, opening it tonight on a random Wednesday. 750ml bottle poured into a snifter.
Pours a caramel brown with a smidge of red as well. An inch of khaki head fades to a rim pretty quickly.
Smell is really malt heavy; super syrupy malty with a hint of sweet cherry flesh.
Taste follows with more sweet malt. Some medicinal cherry flavor comes on the back half.
This beer is probably past whatever prime it had. May have benefitted from some barrel aging to balance out some of the malty sweetness that dominates.
