12oz bottle poured into a snifter.
A - Pours a deep amber, burnt orange color with a one-finger head. Reduces to little islands of foam in a few minutes. Spotty lacing that sticks like glue to the edge of the glass. Relatively opaque with some sediment floating around.
S - Heavy smell of fresh, wet pine and grapefruit. Smells like a forest after a long Summer rain. Fresh, floral tones that really clear the nose and are quite refreshing.
T - Taste is straight piney, bitter hops. Even with the God-like figure on the bottle and the lightning, I was still taken by surprise by how hop-forward this is. Finish is bitter mixed with a citrus-like dryness. Not bad at all, but the bitterness really lingers and was expecting a bit more balance based on the nose.
M - Mouthfeel is relatively light and has quite a bit of carbonation.
D - Overall a very drinkable beer. The strong bitterness detracts from the drinkability, but it has good flavor and goes down easily. A good first-showing for this brewery for me and I can't wait to delve deeper into what they have to offer.
