12 oz bottle courtesy of tommyguz pours a hazed, dark amber color with a moderate tan head. Retention is no bueno but does leave a smattering of lace.
Nose is lots of toffee and caramel, not much hops. Sort of metallic and off-putting really. Kinda smells like a penny that has been sitting in a wet cupholder for a month or so.
Taste is a little bit better, plenty of hop bitterness - just not a whole lot of hop flavor. The malts are too heavy, dripping with toast and caramel. Mouthfeel is ok, but the flavors are just not to my liking at all. It's not a drain pour, but it is not even an average IPA for me...aroma plays a big part in IPAs and this beer smells pretty gross.
