Light copper/amber color. Thin head with an even glossy coat.
Caramel malts with some toast and an aroma of steeped black tea. Kiss of hops in the nose.
Very bitter bite with musty malts, toasted grain, crisped rice, and toffee. Tea-like notes from the hop/malt combo. A tad metallic in the finish.
Hearty carbonation. Thinner body which promotes the ease of drinking.
A good local Oktoberfest. Something about the Tri-State area and decent German-style beers.

Picked up a six pack at the bar at Church along with some other non-documented items, hence no cost analysis.
Undated bottle stored at 42 degrees. Served at 42 degrees in a hand washed and dried Jester King snifter.
Aroma – Fruity malt. Fades but still noticeable at the end.
Head – Small (Maximum one cm, aggressive pour), off white, rocky, short retention, rapidly diminishing to a one mm ring and a small thin layer.
Lacing – Poor. A few small drag marks of tiny bubbles remain behind as the beer level lowers.
Body – Amber, chill haze.
Flavor – Fruity malt, slightly sweet. No flavors of hops, alcohol, or diacetyl. Ends slightly bitter.
Palate – Thin, watery, soft carbonation.
Impression: A passable Octoberfest beer. A little on the sweet side with the hops barely noticeable. Of the three local Pittsburgh Oktoberfest beers I tried fresh this season, Penn Brewing is the best followed by Church with Rivertowne owning last place. This is based on my enjoyment – my ratings may not follow the same sequence since I try to base them on style.
Appearance 3, Aroma 3, Flavor 3.5, Palate 3.25, Overall 3.25.

Originally had on 9-27-14. Rating of 3.75. Specifics are blank due to BA glitch.
On 9-16-22 I cant really argue with an overall 3.75. Its pretty lackluster. Especially the pathetic body. Rating updated to current.
It pours flat and thin looking. Smell is void. Taste is way too sweet. Feel is strangely prickly carb but a super thin body. Weird. Overall one of the least impressive marzens I've ever had.
