Best before 24-06-05. Poors in nicly givving a nice head that lasts and leaves nice laces at the glas. Futher an opalizing golden beecolor. Nose is quiet flat( maybe cause of age) having some malts but lots of esters giving it a fruity nose and a hint of hoparome. Overal not 100% fresh though. Taste is quiet dull too having some malttaste, quiet sweet, alcoholic and then going into a moderate but litle hanging bitterness. Lots of carbonisation makes mouthfeel more lively and litle better then taste but one was enough for me. No bad beer though.

I split a bottle with my friend at De Hopduvel in Ghent.

Appearance: Served in a frosted glass, so I have no idea if this is clear or cloudy, my guess is lightly hazy. Golden in color with a white head that quickly fades to a sudsy film leaving patchy lace.

Smell: Sweet Belgian yeast fruitiness along with light pepper and light grain.

Taste: Sweet banana and berry fruitiness with a peppery finish.

Mouthfeel: Light to medium-bodied with moderate carbonation.

Drinkability: A little too sweet.

On-tap at the Paters Vaetje in Antwerp, Belgium...

A lightly hazy but bright yellow color with a thinnish white head. An earthy, yeastiness in the nose, a hint of herbal hops and some sweetish pale malt.

There is a fairly earthy quality to this blond ale but that's where the distinctiveness ends. Herbal hops but overall a quite sweet blond. Medium bodied with a sweetish aftertaste. Nothing earthshattering but it was an enjoyable and drinkable brew. Worth a shot if you can find it on draft.

First had: on tap at POPE, Philly, PA

Poured a clear golden color, noticeably carbonated, with a thin, spotty head. Light grainy aroma, floral, and not too strong. Good balance of light hops and pale malts in the taste, slightly grainy, mild sensation of orange zest. Dry finish, and a little funk goingn on towards the middle of the glass. Light body and generally drinkable for those who prefer lighter beers, but not too distinctive, and not something I'd get more than once.

A: Pale blond appearance with medium white head that settles quickly; not much lacing.
S: Aroma of bread and black pepper.
T: Malts dominate the palate, with some light spice and summer fruit in the background.
M: Light body.
D: Not a bad beer, but on the plain side.

I'ts 1 AM in Belgium, just bought one of these from an open store with a limited stock of beer outside my hotel.

A - appearance is a golden yellow color with a nice white head that seems to be sticking around. lots of bubbles coming up from the bottom.

S - smells of malts and yeast... thats about it, hops might show slightly but not much.

T - malty taste to this beer... more hops in the taste than in the nose, but not by much.

M - bubbles at the tip of my tongue, goes down nicely, somewhat clean finish.

O - decent beer, helps that I'm drinking it late at night in Belgium, but compared to other beers isnt anything too special.

This beer pours a orange, yellow color with a thin head and big chuncks of yeast.

Smell is malty with notes of vanilla and honey, light caramalt probably. Smell is yeasty with some sweet peachy and fruity smells.

Taste is yeasty with some solvent and fruity peach notes. There is a light bitter and malt is faintly present. A light spiciness in the back. Actually there were no real complex flavors in this beers. The yeast wasn't really special and hops and malt were not very outspoken. Body was kind of thin. Just a standard blond beer, nothing special.

(From notes)

A - Like other reviews, the appearance was difficult to discern with the 'frosted' Cuvee des Trolls glassware. I'm pretty sure that I picked out a light yellow color that seemed a little hazy and poured with a pure white finger of foam with decent retention.

S - I have to admit it is hard to pick out anything in there. Slightly sweet, a touch fruity (more like pineapple or apple), could be due to the hops...hard to tell.

T - Pretty muted taste, and just a little sweet and a bit of citruis and fruit flavors. I'd be lying if I could come up with more here, just didn't really deliver much.

M - Light, almost a little silky to me, and even the carbonation just passed on like it was barely there. Way too light for the style.

D - Just OK drinkability given the lack of complexity. The beer was so light that it wouldn't be difficult to drink a few without your palate noticing.

Overall, there are so many better brews within the style. Still glad to have tried just for the sake of something new. I read on the bottle that it is a filtered brew, which might explain the lack of depth and character of the brew. Perhaps an unfiltered or bottle-conditioned version would be better?

Poured into a snifter.
Pours hazy golden beer with decent 2-finger white head, good retention. Smell of honey, yeasts, grass, pale malts, troll sweat 8). Flavour is close to russian minibreweries, commonly yeasty, slightly honey, grass and malts. Normal brew for unnormal belgians. Medium body, moderate carbonation.

Good Summer Ale. Beer poured from tap a hazy yellow color, which just a bit of head. Nothing altogether of note in the smell other than the hops. Taste was fruity with just a slight bit of bitterness. The beer drank easily - light without much carbonation.

a- pours a clear deep hey/yellow color with a relatively healthy head that quickly fades

s- mix of citrus, hay, must and that "belgian" smell.

t- taste is very light with very little to offer at first, just a slight citrus and slight grassy and a tiny bit of sweet malt flavor finished with again a slight hop bitterness. not a whole lot of flavor but very pleasant and refreshing.

m- feels thin then builds a little and leaves an effervescent feeling on the tongue. finishes a little on the dry side. different.

d- very drinkable, as i said, not a ton of flavor but it's pleasantly light. at 7% you could get ahead of yourself with this one on a hot day. i like it. give it a try.
