"Bush Prestige starts out as Bush Ambrée, which instead of being stored as traditionally in stainless steel vats is matured in oak barrels for a period of six months.

During bottling, a small quantity of sugar and yeast is added to the beer, which, placed in a hot room, causes refermentation in the bottle that gives it a natural cloudiness and a particularly high alcohol content of 13%."

Pours a thin white layer, that fades slowly leaving some lace. Cloudy amber color. Good carbonation and medium bodied. Nose is candy sugar, Belgian yeast and hints of alcohol, flavor is smooth, sweet, fruity & hints of caramel. Nice clean finish. The 13% ABV is not really noticeable but savor this beer, it ain't cheap. Caged & corked 750ml bottle. Bottled in 2013.

Although the style and the brewer are both favorites of mine, the $40 price tag always put me off. My son in law was nice enough to damn the torpedoes and give it to me for Christmas last year. Ok, now I have the dilema of when is the proper time to open up a $40 bottle of beer. This was a super hot summer here in Nevada, and I recently decided to shave off my beard, which I've had for quite a while. A momentus occasion, so I figured let's open up the Prestige. Well worth the wait. My bottle was 2010 vintage and delicious. Complex flavors, oak barrel aged subtleties, and I've always felt brewers who can make 13.5% ABV an afterthought really know their stuff. Thank you Scaldis, and thank you Nathan. I suggest buying one, putting it on a shelf, and saving it for a special occasion, whenever and whatever that may be.

750 ml "champagne" bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Deep golden to amber colour, moderate head. Lovely vinous aroma with notes of oak, fruit and berries. The flavour is also pleasantly oaky and fruity, with a "refreshing" touch which is quite astonishing for a 13% ABV beer. Well, you get an idea that this is a strong beer, but not as strong as it actually is. It is not too sweet, and the aftertaste is moderately spicy. A great beer!

L: pours amber with a light copper tint under a thin 1/2" white head with fair to poor retention

S: smells like peach, stone fruit, alcohol, light caramel, and citrus with a faint hint of tobacco, light grape, white wine and vanilla

T: Lightly sweetened alcohol and peach lead the flavors drying on the finish with moderately bitter hops and some lightly astringent oak tannins. There is some light caramel flavor, peach skin, coconut and light nuts.

F: medium body and carbonation, moderate alcohol warming

O: a big, well balanced beer that handles its 13.0% alcohol by volume deceptively well

thanks to my brother for this bottle a gift from Christmas -2013 edition cellared for a couple years

The color is a medium amber with good clarity and thick cream with fine beading. The smell is fruity and has a slight vinous accent with hint of wood in the nose. The feel is great - so smooth for a 13%, the aging probably helped yet moderately high carbonation gives an impression of dryness and levity with mild sweetness and slight woody texture in the back as it finishes on the dry side.

The taste is very good -slight stone fruit in the yeast flavor with a light cherry element and nutty toast quality from the barrel with a slight sweetness in the malt with mild alcohol in the flavor, it is almost undetectable. I really enjoyed this strong pale, I would be interested in trying a fresh one if it is still being brewed and bottled.
