High octane, with lots of abbey ale quality. Lots of dark dry fruits, dark bread, and Belgian yeast notes, but the overall impression that I keep coming back to is a less sweet rum and coke, made with good rum!

Going down, you can easily guess this one packs a punch, but you'd never in your life guess it was 12%! Winter warmer, indeed.

Poured into my chalice..has a cranberry-amber color to its light-in-appearance body. Barely a head. Fair lacing.
Smells very nice, like tart but juicy cherries, with a slight alcohol burn, and a hint of darker fruits.
Taste is like what hit my nose. Malts, sweet fruit (cherries), with a mellow burn and a bubblegum flavor that develops. Not too complex. These flavors remain tasty throughout, Noel finishes with a peppery bite, slightly dry, but just right
Mouthfeel is medium and creamy, with ample carbonation.
A great way to kick back on Christmas Eve.

Poured a quickly dissipating off white head into a Spiegelau tulip. Wildly fragrant, musty-spicy nose. Taste follows the nose - spice, yeast, dark fruits, and booziness. Mildly viscous mouthfeel. Mouthwatering drinkabilty. This is a Christmastime winner.

found the color a little curious. I expected a much darker beer and when it poured a burnt orangish color, I was wishing it was either a little darker or a little lighter. It did pour a nice thick head though. had held up and laced nicely. The aroma is very much a strong Belgian ale with hints to break, must, cheese, raisins. Now that I think of it sort of like a fruitcake, but maybe it’s the seasonal label influencing me. First sip a full mouth-feel and a noticeable alcohol tingle. Very sweet followed by a little bitterness. Nice alcohol burn and a little warmth in the cheeks. A very good Christmas beer. One to sip and enjoy on a cold night.

330cL bottle into a chalice
26/07/2014

A: Very hazy to the point of being nearly opaque. Kind of an ugly colored brown, with less than 1/2 a fingers width of fizzy head that quickly dissipates down and leaves essentially no lacing. 3.25

S: Tons of vinous dark fruit notes, candied sugar, caramel/toffee. The vinous notes are almost tart at times. 4

T: Sweetness with dark fruits, cocoa, candied sugar. A pretty solid degree of spice that I didn’t get on the nose at all, with an almost bitter quality3.75. A bit of booze that adds a nice balancing component, but may be a bit dominant at times. 3.75

M/D: Full bodied, carbonation appropriate, ABV noticeable but fairly tame for 12%, drinkability is dangerously good. 4

O: Enjoyable beer. Not something I would go to often, but certainly worth a try. 4
