Large bottle to small snifter
Rich complex aroma and flavor. Really a lot going on here.
Feel: Somewhat lively but very soft carbonation.
Fruits including apple and raisins, a touch of smoke, plenty of alcohol esters.
A bit boozy for my tastes, usually, but really exceptional for this level of ABV.

Finished a bomber of this fine unique beverage, in the very glass it was designed for. Thanks for sendng both Vincent. Pours a blackish cognac coloured body with an initially notion only of a head. The aroma is rich wine (it was aged in such for 7 months), and the taste is secondary to this Belgian ale, with some chocolate. Special though not extraordinary special.Above average mouthfeel.

Bottle: Poured a murky red/beige color ale with a large foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma consists of lightly sweet malt with oak notes, subtle tart notes and a vinous character. Taste is also a mix between a lightly sweet non-descript malt base with tart notes and a vinous feel from the wine barrel. Body was quite full with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. I must say I was disappointed by this one - I am not sure the wine barrel brought anything more that I appreciated. I was expecting more sour notes as opposed to some grapes. The price tag is another factor probably not helping.

2013 vintage. Poured from 750 mL bottle into snifter.
A: Pours a slightly hazy amber hue with moderate carbonation producing a 2-3 inch bubbly light tan head. Good retention. No lacing.
S: Soft caramel malt; cinnamon, clove, and other soft spice; golden raisin; subtle hint of oak comes through especially with warming.
T: Chewy dark dried fruit, red berries, a distinct vinous note, oaky vanilla, and a hint of soft spice (cinnamon, clove, etc.). With warming, the red berry note becomes even more prominent.
M: Medium body...drinks lighter than the ABV would suggest. Lightly sweet. Moderate carbonation prickle. Decent lingering on the palate with a dry fruit note persisting. The ABV is extremely well hidden here.
D: I like the impact that aging in wine barrels has on this brew...vinous notes, berry notes, oak/vanilla notes all coming from this process. The end result is a well-balanced offering with good complexity and easy drinkability (especially given the ABV).
P.S. The ABV does eventually catch up to you...it is 13% after all.

This beer pours a light, I'll say medium bodied chestnut brown in color with a one finger beige colored head. It smells of subtle oak, hazelnuts, and the lightest of dark fruits. The aromas are very, very subtle and not overwhelming, especially considering the 13%. There is zero alcohol present in the nose. The flavors too are very subtle. It is essentially a mix of chestnuts, hazelnuts, and light oak. There aren't any real dark fruits, which is fine, yet interesting. It's just overly subtle on everything. I like for a beer to woo me into drinking it. This beer almost dares me to drink it. Do I need to? No, and that's the thing. It's drinks very well for the style and for the content but it just doesn't thrill me. Oh well, it's always nice to try a bottle that cost $46.99.

A brown foggy beer, a tan small head with little lacing but good curtains.

Lots of action for the noose, sweet dark fruits, sherry, Marzipan.

Starting somewhat sweet, old rancid fruits, vinous, a bit dusty, green mold.

Medium carbonation, small bubbles, sticky and oily, slightly dry.

This bottle was for me beyond the peek.

Cloudy reddish brown with a thin tan head and persistent carbonation. Smells of cherries, wood, and a slight cinnamon. Taste is pronounced cherries, wine, and wood. The finish is slightly sour and a touch dry. The alcohol comes on as a definite warmth on the way down. Mouthfeel is soft with tingly carbonation to offset it. Drinkability is excellent for something this high in abv. This is a fantastic beer, delicate yet really powerful. Like a linebackerina. Tough to find, expensive, and worth it.
