Poured on-tap at Hollingshead's Deli in Orange. Reviewed from notes.

A- Finger width whie head. Little retention but some watery lacing. Very pale orange color. Cloudy.

S- Some alcohol, hoppy and very light smell.

T- Champagne and hops, clean finish with some bitter linger. Sweet and clean.

M- Light bodied, nice finish.

O- Lighter beer with a high ABV. Not terrible but not great. I still enjoyed it.

A: The beer is hazy golden yellow in color and has some visible yeast particles floating in suspension. It poured with a two finger high bright white head. The head has good retention properties and consistently left a thin head covering the surface.
S: Light to moderate aromas of fruit, yeast and candi sugar are present in the nose.
T: Much like the smell, the overall taste is quite fruity and has notes of Belgian yeast and candi sugar along with some hints of alcohol towards the finish.
M: It feels medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer is quite fruity and seems a little lighter in body compared to other tripels.

S- Light without hint of alcohol. Be careful!!!

M- Creamy good. Yeasty and malt. Will do with a year in the cellar

O- Needs a year in the cellar

Have 4 more to try for the next few years...Looking forward

Food Pairing

This big bold trip goes to a delicious... Roast Turkey

For some reason this beer matched very very very well with a roasted turkey. I was so impressed how good it was. 20min per pound and POW

A - fully hazy golden orange, some suspended sediment, tall white head retained as expected
S - musty funky yeast, sour citrus and grainy with some definite booziness
T - big on phenols, somewhat musty and minerally, sour citrus and a healthy booziness round it out
M - big creamy carbonation, relatively light feel, the heat of the booze warms the innards and drys it out on the finish
O - a tasty big treat, the booze is prevalent and not for the faint of heart, but it doesn't detract from the flavours of this triple

Pours a cloudy deep gold with lots of sediment in suspension. The gigantic, puffy head lasts the entire glass, amazing retention. Ridges and chunks of foam coat the glass on the way down. Sweet fruit and bready malts in the nose. The taste is malty with toasted marshmallow sweetness mixed with cookie dough and some very restrained herbal hop aromas. The mouthfeel is quite full bodied with a prickly high level of carbonation. Booze is pretty noticeable throughout but never overpowering. The finish is malty with melon fruitiness and cane sugar sweetness.

A nice Tripel. Complex and malty. Sweet but not overly so. I'd try it again. Glad I dug this out of my cellar (read: beer cabinet:) ).

Scaldis Triple is a supermodel: blond, with a natural and healthy glow, its bleached-white head is well-built and perfectly proportioned. I think I have a crush on it. Oddly enough, such a bright, pale coloured beer doesn't let you see a thing on the other side, not even into the light.

A blend of sugar, alcohol, and white bread, the aroma is simple but bizarrely hypnotizing (and at 10.5%, rather sedative too). It lacks the subtle yet complex fruit and spice esters that distinguish the best Tripels and instead has the intense concentrated qualities of an eau de vie.

Among these augmented, alcohol-macerated flavours are apple and pear and not much else beyond straw and cereal grain. The sugar, added with the sole intention of boosting alcohol, is far more appreciable on the palate than the brewer likely intended.

The beer is tasty enough to start drinking in large gulps but ales like this ultimately cannot be rushed - you'll be sippin' it in no time! The finish includes some phenolic, clove-y yeast byproducts, but any herbal qualities serve on the frontline as privates, not generals. Alcohol runs things. I typically don't advocate aging beer but this is one to stash away in the panic room.

The brewery advertises it as a Tripel, but its pale, grainy, sweet cereal maltiness and paralyzing alcohol presence is nearly identical to that you'd find in Duvel or other Belgian Strong Golden Ales. It is a subtle distinction between the two styles, but the predominance of candi sugar over spice or fruit nuances - and the obvious alcohol - make it quite apparent.

As you might expect, Scaldis Triple is a beer that charges at you like a maddened, rogue male elephant, ears flared, trunk raised and trumpet blaring. But it won't hurt ya. Just don't be surprised, however, to find yourself the domesticated one. Not only do you have to adjust yourself to it with slower, more patient sips but anything this seductive can create a dependency: if you get one bottle, expect to end up buying a second.

Apperance: Golden yellow colour, visibly highly carbonated much like champagne. Cloudly swirls through a pretty clear looking beer. Very light and abundant bubbly head, very stable and nice lacing on the glass.

Aroma: Sweet fragrant aroma, sweet honey, grapes, mild wiffs of alcohol balancing the sweetness.

Taste: Very smooth forward bitterness quickly and smoothly flows into the sweet pale malts and grape like flavors which bounce on the tongue. Finishes with a distinct boozy finish at the back of the throat. Hints of sour apples and apple cider.

Mouthfeel: Very highly carbonated, flavor bounces over the tongue and disctint smooth mouth warming feeling in the finish that hits the back of the throat.

Quicky review:

Nice thick head three fingers and good dissipation leaving a nice film and lacing.

I love the smell...definite yeast and fruit. The down side is that a bit of alcohol comes through.

The alcohol does not come as prominent in the taste...fruits and grains with the yeast come come through.

Good mouth feel...full carbonation and body.

Overall this is a nice tripel. I enjoyed it on a cool summer day and I could have had a few more.
