Very smooth very hazy NE IPA…picked this up with my original target a Dankonia 4 pack (to be reviewed later) at Rehoboth IH location. We ate there last week and the Dank got my attention….When the ladies behind the desk said it was IPA Day and 4 packs were $10…what could I do?
Pillowy mouthfeel without over sweetness…nicely balanced.when I picked it I thought it was a 6%er but no…9%….Ooof…
Will indeed get it again.

Picked this up in January at the Iron Hill location here in New Jersey. Never had anything from this before and this looked to be their best offering available when I passed through there. For a beer that's available in multiple locations, this was pretty good although it was quite typical for the style if you're into examples from the left coast.

Indeed, this turned out to be a hop bomb as it was a dark brassy, sudsy brew with plenty of foam to top it off. A thick ring of lacing remained near the top of my pint glass as there were only scattered sections of suds the rest of the way down. Pine and citrus were strong in the nose with a bit of caramel, gooseberry, and weed underneath that as the taste was quite hop forward without being an up-front assault on the senses. Plenty balanced, subtly strong, and decently carbonated, there was a lot to like here as this had an earthy and slightly minty tingle in the back with some deep forest thrown in for good measure.

I could easily feel the warming take hold of me well before I took my last sip, as this was an Imperial IPA that felt the part once I finished it off. Canned on 12/12 of last year, this held up exceptionally well as it got quite dank and still retained enough hop oil and slickness to feel younger than that. Glad I was able to stop in here on my way to Double Nickel, as it looked like a good place for a chain, with this beer easily being up to par!

A thanks to the founder of the canquest, woodychandler, for this beer. Poured from a 16 oz. can. Has a dark golden color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is of pine, citrus. Taste is resin, pine, some grapefruit, moderate bitterness. Feels medium/full bodied in the mouth and overall is a solid beer.

Pours a regular NEIPA color, very little head, aroma is faint citrus, pine, sweet, taste is complex, I get a citrus, pine, sweet, almost no bitter, no aftertaste. I am getting weak hoppiness. I maybe got an older brew, but not that interesting.

Poured out of a can, it is a golden amber with very minimal head. The aroma is hoppy and citrusy. Mainly grapefruit/orange with some pine. Nice fruity flavor that is not too bitter. Medium body with light carbonation.

Pours a clear golden color. A half a fingernail length head soon dissipates and leading to minimal lacing.

The aromas are bright and citrusy with notes of grapefruit, lime and orange, as well as a touch of stone fruit. This is supplemented by piney and resinous herbal hops aromas.

A firm biscuity, caramel and crisp cracker malt backbone provides a balanced sweetness that never dissipates. Nevertheless, it mostly gives way to assertive hops flavors that yield a West Coast bitterness and hops spices. Classic notes of grapefruit, orange, lemon, lime, peach, sharp pine, grass and very resiny. The finish is dry and resiny with a refreshing bitterness.

Medium bodied with a mostly crisp mouthfeel, yet, slightly slick from the ABV. The carbonation is moderate.

This was a fun and tasty DIPA, which amazingly, drinks like an IPA. It’s impressive how it’s classic West Coast qualities shine through and how well masked the alcohol is.

A pint can poured into a clear glass Imperial pint mug reveals a bright copper-amber beer with a head thatdissipates quickly. Good pronounced aroma of clean and resinous hops has occurred. The glass lacing is scant, likely reduced by the 9% ABV. A good malty backbone and the alcohol lead to a sweet start. Then the hops kick in to finish it off. The bold taste of the hops is bitter and resinous, yet crisp and clean, leading to a dry finish. The big alcohol isn't a detraction from the overall taste or finish, perhaps even adding to the dryness. Anyone looking for a break from another hazy IPA should look here.
