Unfiltered Belgian-style double wheat beer brewed with 60 pounds of orange blossom honey. Pale colored and medium-bodied, yet complex. Distinctive yeast and added spices produce a refreshing, fruity citrus flavor.

Pours a light brown with a thin tan head.

Nose is very fruity. Orange, spicy alcohols, herbal yeast, spices, honey and wheaty malts.

Taste is a bit boozy but has a nice wheaty malt and fresh fruit presence.

Body a tad on the thin side and lightly carbonated. Good ale, just a tad out of balance.

Appearance: Arrives with a cloudy honey color and a modest head; leaves a few strands of lace

Smell: Honey-covered bread, with coriander and orange peel tones; some alcohol on the nose

Taste: Bread and honey, up front, with the coriander and orange peel making a brash entrance in the middle; a bit boozy and spicy/peppery, after the swallow, but the finish has a lot of residual sugar

Mouthfeel: Medium to full body with moderate carbonation

Overall: A nice wrinkle on the witbier style though I would prefer a bit more of a carbonated Belgian mouthfeel

Cellared and poured from from a one pint bottle.

Appearance: Pours a clear, light amber with a decent white head that stays throughout. Absolutely no lacing present.

Smell: Honey, wheat malt, yeast, dark fruit, molasses, and spice.

Taste: Honey sweetness balanced by alcohol! Wheat, spice, pitted fruit, and molasses are all represented. Again, alcohol is active in the taste and lightly warms.

Mouthfeel: Medium carbonation. Smooth, but lingers over the palate due to the vicosity of the honey. The finish is almost sticky.

Overall: i am not a fan of the witbier style mainly because I do not like the excessive amount of coriander I can usually smell and taste. And, I find this beer to be exceptional because it does not highlight this spice. In my mind this is what the style should taste like. I also enjoyed the copious amount of alcohol, almost like an imperial. One of my favorite witbiers to date.

On tap at Iron Hill Media. Served in a 12 ounce tulip.

Beer is hazy, golden color with a thin layer of bright, bright white head.

The aroma is very Belgian. The yeast stands out. I'm picking up bananas, cloves, and a hint of honey.

The taste is comparable to the nose...big Belgian yeast notes with some tropical fruit esters. You also get a big dose of wheat malt which is very refreshing. As a "double" witbier, there is a little more booze around the edge of each sip than you are accustomed to with a witbier, but it works.

Very medium bodied beer with a sharp level of carbonation.

Overall, I'm not a big fan of drinking witbier during the colder months, but Honey Do Wit has an extra kick that gives it a sense of warmth not often seen in the style. It paired very well with my mussels and frites dinner. A little taste of Brussels in Media.

Iron Hill HoneyDoWit Beer. Iron Hill Brewery & Restaurant, Handcrafted Ales & Lagers, Wilmington, Delaware, 750 ml bottle.

Slimmed & soon-gone head, dar amber, heavily hazed hue.

AromaL must be honey with a name like that, and there it is in the nose. Quite sweet. Honey and alcohol. Light spice, fruit.

Taste: sweet, fruit, honey, there it all is. Wheat flavor/texture/mouthfeel is here, good and smooth. Flavor is there, but nothing more than what I've already said. There's honey, there's...fruit, it's tasty, and easy-drinking, except that feels slightly strong. Wonder how strong? Good question, as the alcohol increasingly becomes a part of the taste.

Tasty and refreshing....-ish. Good stuff, but not quite good enough. Doesn't quite cut it.

Mucho gracias to Woody

From 08/26/10 notes. Had at a local DC tasting.

a - Pours an amber color with an inch of head and moderate carbonation.

s - Smells of citrus, honey, wheat, and light fruity malts.

t - Tastes of citrus, light tropical fruit, wheat, bready malts.

m - Light body and moderate carbonation.

d - An average witbier, but nothing really stood out. Wouldn't seek out again.

Acquired from Imstillthegman, courtesy of the BA Veterans BIF so a big "Thank You" goes out to him. Poured from a 750ml bottle into an imperial pint glass.

A: The beer is a deep amber color, with a short white head that fades slowly and leaves a thick lace on the glass.

S: The aroma is of Belgian yeast, wheat, honey, citrus, some spices and a touch of hops.

T: The taste starts sweet with flavors of honey (as the name implies), citrus and spices. Then some breadiness comes in from a hearty Belgian yeast backbone and a hearty malt character along with some wheat in the background. There's a very mild hops presence but it's about where it should be for the style and provides a good balance. The label lists the beer at 9.50% ABV but you wouldn't be able to tell by the taste. The after-taste is slightly sweet.

M: Crisp and smooth, medium body, medium carbonation, finish is slightly sticky.

D: Tasty, goes down easily, not too filling, deceptively strong kick, good representation of style, this is a nice stronger than average Witbier to drink for a long time.

Appearance: Poured with a very small off white head that dissipated very quickly leaving no lacing. The beer is golden yellow in color and clear.

Smell: Honey, tangy wheat, fruity pear and apple. Pretty sweet and light.

Taste: Tangy wheat and sweet honey up front, fruity grapes and pear, all followed by some spicy pepper.

Mouthfeel: Medium body, good amount of carbonation, tangy tingle on the tongue, sweet afterwards.

Overall: Good drinkability. Nice tangy wheat and yeast character, pretty sweet and fruity overall with a nice peppery spice toward the end to help balance out the sweetness. Pretty good representation of the style.

Thanks Hophead101 for this yummy wit!! :-)

A corked and caged 750 mL bottle that Frederick T Bunky brought over a few weeks back.

A: The bottle opened without a pop and poured with mild carbonation into my Chimay glass. Thin wisps of foam have pooled in the center of the glass, above the nucleation point. The witbier is more of an auburn yellow hue that is just hazed over enough.

S: Tart wheat really jumps out of the glass. Belgian yeasts add a fragrant fruitiness. Coriander and honey vie for attention. I struggled to place the sweetness until I remember the name. Oh yeah, honey.

T: Sweet, treacly honey drives a good flavor. Wheat is in abundant supply but never tart. The honey imparts a full flavor that resembles a brandy-barrel aged beer, sweet and full and not shy about its origins. Pepper and coriander come through when the ale sits on the palate. Light orange peel, not much mind you, pops up behind the honey. The ale is heavy; I'm not sure why a witbier needs to be imperialized. I'd enjoy this at 1/2 of the potency.

M: The mouthfeel is bold, heavy at times. The honey really stands out, solidifying this one for me. I must say though, there is something to be said for moderation. Does it need to be so big?

D: One bottle works nicely in a night, I can slowly sip my way through it. Even though I like this, please stop imperializing beers witbiers (and pilseners while we're at it)!

The bottle boasts a double wit style beer brewed with coriander, bitter orange, and honey. Sounded good...

A - The cork was pried from the bottle with not so much as a pop. Even using a hard pour virtually no head was produced. The flat, hazy honey colored body only had a small semblance of a white head.

S - The smell of honey, light fruits (like white grapes and apricots) are also present.

T - Sweet. Fruit with the overall flavor of apricots. A bit of spicy but it is drowned out by the sweetness. Did I mention it was sweet? There was no taste of alcohol. A nonbeerdrinking friend of mine loved it, but she is more into really sweet wines.

M - Full bodied that really fills your mouth and feels heavy. Mildly syrupy, but it goes down smoothly.

D - I could take it or leave it. NOT worth the $19.00 they are charging for this thing. I might spend $5.

750ml bottle into tulip on 6/17/09. Thanks to FooFaa for sharing!

According to Iron Hill, Honey Do Wit is a "Belgian-style double witbier" brewed with orange peel, coriander, and orange blossom honey. The beer is 9.5% ABV and will be the newest addition to Iron Hill's Bottled Reserves.

A - Poured a hazy, two-tone peachy amber with one finger of creamy off-white head that diminished into a thin veil and deposited patchy lace around the glass. A cyclone of carbonation bubbles penetrated the center of the body.

S - While the initial aroma reeks of sweet honey, there is also a pleasant fruity character reminiscent of fresh melons and citrus fruit. The yeast presence offers a slightly spicy flair to the aroma and gives it a bit more depth and character. A waft of sweet caramel malt and subtle alcohol notes round out the aroma.

T - Initial flavor is sweet and caramely with a prevalent honey presence. However, at the core of this brew lies a fresh fruity character suggesting ripe melons and, to a lesser degree, juicy citrus fruit. Mild peppery and perfumy notes bring this fantastic take on a Witbier to a close.

M - Medium to full bodied and syrupy for a Witbier. However, carbonation is quite muted, giving way to a softer, rounder mouthfeel overall. Finishes with a touch of spicy bitterness on the palate.

D - Iron Hill really beefs up this classic Belgian style with lots of fruity flavor and tasty honey sweetness that never becomes overly indulgent. I was certainly left wanting more. Nicely done, Iron Hill!
