Enjoyed on tap at Maple Shade location. Orange bodied, orange flavour mostly Complex, with lots of coconut and some tropical fruit, grapefruit. Smooth drinker, the best beer I had here, being near my hotel. Wasn't getting the lemon I would anticipate.

Growler poured into a tulip. Beer is amber and mostly clear with a good head, some lacing, decent retention and some carbonation.
Aroma is sweet with some hops in there, fruity more than anything, I like the aroma.
I didn't put two and two together until the other Matt told me. I took a drink and immediately said "Sorachi Ace hops" and then the other Matt said, "That's a Japanese hop, probably why they call it rising sun right?" Right, I'm an idiot. This is a sorachi ace bomb here. The creamy almost oily hop flavors give rise to this I swear coconut like sweetness present in all beers that use a lot of this hop. Overall it is a fine little IPA but Sorachi Ace aren't my favorite hop out there.

Growler shared by drabmuh. Thanks Matt!
The beer is orange and transparent, with a thick white head that leaves a thick sheet of lacing on the pint glass. The aroma offers some sweet malt, floral scents, and a light coconut flavor. Coconuts really come through in the flavor, giving the beer a lot of sweetness. Light floral notes. Mouthfeel is exceptionally creamy. Overall, a coconut bomb. An atypical IPA, Sorachi Ace hops steal the show.

On tap at Lancaster.
A: The IPA is a darker amber color. The spry lively Sorachi Ace had me expecing a golden yellow brew. A thin white head, little lacing.
S: Sorachi ace comes through, the lemony hop standing out against darker caramel aromas. The hops have a thicker, plodding body, as though the ale has some age to it.
T: Again, the hops linger as a forboding flavor, delivering just enough lemony sweetness. They are subdued though, as though age has taken its toll, to a degree. Caramel is evident, a strong counterbalance to the hops. The lemon is strong up front and again midsip after a brief respite. I'd love to try it freshly kegged.
M: The mouthfeel brings enough lemon to keep me happy. The sorachi ale, though, doesn't shine as best as it could.

On tap at Iron Hill Media.
My first experience with Sorachi hops. Pours an orange amber with a thick, off-white head which created some wonderful lacing.
The aroma was certainly interesting. At first, it comes across as your typical hoppy IPA, but the generic citrus flavor melts away to a strong lemony aroma with a spicy, black peppery bite around the edges. An interesting and intriguing smelling beers.
Taste is quite good. The hoppiness is upfront and delicious. There is a strong citrus taste combined with some peppery edges which was an interesting taste combination.
The mouthfeel was adequate...perhaps a touch thin for an IPA. Otherwise, Rising Sun was an interesting take on the IPA and I'm hopeful to see it on Iron Hill Media's tap list again in the future.
