A goblet served on-tap at IH Lancaster. A guest brew from Brian Finn at Iron Hill Wilmington.
A: The saison is golden, a hazy yellow color that appears quite robust. Opaque, there's nothing to see beyond the ale. A thin head comes along on the first pour.
S: Both lemony hops and dirty yeast drive the ale. The hops are citrusy and full, plenty of lemon peel to jump around. The dirtiness of the yeast lends a mild brett aroma. As the ale warms, the Sorachi Ace becomes more prominent.
T: The hops are strong from the first sip, bitter with lemon rinds driving the flavor. As the citrus relaxes, the dirtiness of the yeast kicks in. Although I don't think that it is wild, the yeast lends a brett-like earthiness to the ale. That flavor mixes well with the hoppiness, an earthy bite. Aniseedy flavors, along with pepper, are present although the Sorachi Ace and yeast are the key components. So good that I went back for a second glass.
M: The mouthfeel is ample, lively with both the Sorachi hops (awesome) and the musty yeast (well, awesome too).
O: This beer was a pleasant surprise; a bonus for making the trek from Harrisburg. Nicely done all around.

I had this served in a tulip, IH Wilmington. The pour was hazy yellow, big white head. The aroma was full of sweet lemon zest. The flavor is zesty, lemony, grassy, dry finish. The beer was light and lively, high carbonation. A tasty saison, highly recomend.
