This review is in honor of my new employment! I feel so appreciated!

Poured from a 750ml bottle into a lipped IPA pint...the Philly Beer Scene 2015 glass to be specific. Not sure what it is called. It has a orange gold color with an off-white, eggshell colored head that shows good lacing. Active bubbles show through the slightly hazy body.

The aroma is a classic West Coast IPA aroma, with predominant notes of grapefruit, orange, and pine. Subtler aromas of rose oil, and herbs.

The taste starts with a fruity citrus flavor, with notes of starfruit and lychee, and then rolls into a bitter citrus rind, and a sweet buttered toffee flavor. This IPA finishes with a long, semi-dry, bitter finish, but not without a sense of balance. The bitterness coats the tongue with tannic-like astringency, and it feels like a substantial American IPA, verging on the Double IPA.

I'm grateful to have tried this beer. It was a gift, and I respect Iron Hill immensely. This is not a Top 250 beer, but it reminds me about what beer really is...a food. It is a well-designed beer that doesn't show many (if any) flaws. If anything, it reminds me of what am American IPA was like in early 2000's.

750ml, no date but this was received December '12
The Bruery tulip

***Got this through a friend who works at the West Chester, PA Iron Hill location. These were given to the employees as a Christmas gift for working at the restaurant. Not sold to the public, to the best of my knowledge.

A: Slightly hazy light orange amber color. Lots of loose bubbled head, similar to my homebrewing carbo. Seems to be nicely carbonated. Leaves some lacing.

S: Lots of Citra hops (if my nose is right)! Love it. Floral citrus. Pine. Some grapefruit. Orange marmalade. Smells like a nice IPA.

T: Up front bitterness on tip of tongue. That soapy piney hop character. Tastes like a home brew that we've made. In the mid palate you get some malt sweetness. It's not quite balanced, but works. Definitely leans more the the hoppy side. Dry finish. Lingering hop flavors.

M: Medium bodied.
