Cask offering at the Lancaster location served in a wine glass. The brew appears a clear copper color with a frothy white cap that is a finger strong and hold very well. It is rich and frothy in appearance and leaves a full wall of lace sticking to the glass as it slowly fades.
The aroma is sweet smelling with a freh wheat grain appeal. Some lemon and earthy hops blend into the ginger. The ginger as that brightness about it that provides it's own layer of lemony fruit essence that blends with the saison making for a nice set of aromatics.
The taste is spicy with ginger. It is very raw, earthy and lemony. Overall quite fresh in flavor that provides a pleasant uplift to the otherwise boring base saison by IH. Some wheat is present blending with yeasty notes of clove spice that are subtle towards the backend.
This is a light bodied brew with a light amount of carbonation. It has a good flavor all around and is easy drinking. When I arrived at Iron Hill, I was looking to try something new. The concept of a saison on cask seemed too profound to pass up. As expected, the crisp and lively feel of this brew was ruined by the delivery method but it otherwise was pleasant.
