The recipe for this light, unfiltered, lager bock beer uses German sauermalt, organic Montana “Spitz malt”, Pilsener malt, plus three hoppings using Hallertauer Perle and the rare Tettnang aroma hops (both imported from Germany).

Pours a slightly opaque cream with frothy head. Aroma has honey and lots of herbal hops. Great taste with flavorful bready malts and nicely balanced. Both dry, flavorful, and refreshing. This is a really nice beer for lager lovers, and I'm glad we have a laser-focused brewery in the state.

Very attractive slightly hazy light gold color with white cap.
A nice floral aroma of Noble German hops (imported) with a hint of sweetness and a lightly fruity honeyness. I think the aroma is more hop than malt but it works.
Taste on entry is a refreshing fullness of flavor in a stronger version of the scents. IBU is 28 which doesn't really stand out as a flavor so much as sits on the back of the palate balancing against and leaning on the malts. I do get a sense of the honeyed sweetness noticed in the scent yet it presents as dryer in the flavor.
Clean, crisp, and refreshing without being light, this is fairly complex and beautifully balanced.
Texture is medium with balancing carbonation.
Very even handed approach here, layers of flavor began to build with each layer being more complex. My first thought was a good, fresh German then an American twist on an Edelweiss theme. If I lived in the distribution area I'd buy this by the case.

This is a great summer beer, especially on the river, in a crowler. Slightly cloudy, easy drinking beer, but be careful, ABV is over 7%. Sometimes the brewery does a Firken with this beer, which you may only enjoy during Missoula Craft Beer Week.

i thought to myself, "a fall seasonal called dump truck should be a dark, autumnal beer, rich and big, powerful, maybe strong too" but i was really wrong. i couldnt believe when i ordered this at buffalo wild wings in billings and was delivered a beer so clear and yellow as this. i thought an amber at the very least, if not a big bock or something, but nope, a light lager for my troubles (it was raining sideways, gray and windy). seemed inappropriate as a fall seasonal but the beer is pretty good. im not sure it comes across as german as it is. i think the pils malt is really fresh, and i love the hop profile on it, but the yeast is wrong. it has some fruity notes like a wit yeast, and may have been fermented a little warmer than would have been ideal in this style. i see now that it says summer not fall, so perhaps this was a slow mover for buffalo wild wings and they still had it on. makes much more sense in that context. nice grassy euro hop profile and a dry finish to wind it down, but it was a little under carbonated and lacked body, even for a summer brew. solid on the whole, but not my favorite from bayern. nice with some hot wings though!
edit: had this on tap recently and was woefully disappointed, way worse than i remember all those years ago in the above, it was thin and watery, sweet and stale, metallic and with a vanilla element, almost assuredly a dirty tap line at a gross dive bar, these guys are better than this, but this stood out to me this time as well below their normal quality standard, no matter who is responsible. one of their worst beers, but i will leave original score in place and hope this hasnt gotten worse over time...
