Poured from a brown 16.9 oz. bottle. Has a cloudy light brown color with a 1 inch head. Smell is of bananas and yeast. Taste is refreshing, some banana, mild spices, easy drinking. Feels full bodied in the mouth and overall this makes for a quality beer.

A little bit of banana aroma right out of the bottle. It has an odd flinty smell, like wet stone. Color is a tawny orange, with swirling tendrils of descending yeast. Foam is creamy and sticks around.

Flavor is mellow and wheaty at first, then has some mild clove notes briefly at the end. Fairly light and smooth as a Weisse should be. Creamy feeling, with a light banana aftertaste. It's pretty standard, there aren't any over the top elements as in Weihenstephaner or Schneider. Just more of a smooth and mellow Weisse overall, not much different than the standards that are readily available.

500 ml flip-top picked up at Tres Bonne Cuisine over the weekend for about $4.50.. poured into my smaller weizen glass..

3 finger rocky head sticks around for probably 5 minutes.. hazy golden with alot of carbonation bubbles rising from the bottom of the glass.. splotchy lace with a firm cap for the entire glass.

nose is soft and grainy .. more banana than clove.. sorta smells dusty..

how many different ways can I describe a pretty good hefe? This one sorta is muddled.. but alot of banana and the expected clove is sorta background.. some spicy hops seem pretty damn fresh.. everything "hefe" is there.. the body is fairly thick for the style and a bunch of carbonation that never gets burpy.... my only real bitch is, there isn't any of the expected wheat twang that is there on some of the other benchmarks... that said, I think this brew is pretty damn nice.

really pretty good for the style.. If it was available closer to home, I would certainly try and give it to my buddies that appreciate a nice hefe..

Picked up at the Julius Meinl luxury grocery store in downtown Vienna. Standard brown half liter bottle with a green and gold label featuring just the brewery's and the beer's name. Purity law applies. Best before 4/30/08, I opened it on 3/6/08.

Pours a slightly darker than normal cloudy orangish yellow under a fairly thin one finger off white head that fades surprisingly quickly to thick film, leaving just a couple drops on the glass. Crisp banana and citrus nose, not too strong, not too mild. Fairly heavy mouth with a lot of carbonation. Solid taste profile, perhaps a bit heavy on the fruit, not quite enough yeast. No appreciable hops, the close and aftertaste are dominated by lemon and spice. Decent and quaffable, but definitely not spectacular.

Cloudy amber colored beer with a VERY strong head formation, color white.

Smells sweet and spicy with a most clove dominated Hefeweizen smell. Banana is in this but very much hidden. Faint medicine and smoke scents.

Starts out sweet and spicy mostly clove. Banana and chocolate under the cloves. The flavor works but isn't among the best ones out there.

Mouthfeel is OK, not wheat beer heavy though.

OK beer but it just doesn't do that much for me. It is OK just not Franziskaner good.

Has a darker murky orange color with decent 2 finger head. A little formidable looking for a Hefe

Smell - Very bready with a tingle of banana. Actually its very nice and not too sweet.

Taste - It's very well balance and smooth going down. Flavors are bready, malty mostly and a tinge of sweetness. A little crisp in the finish but very faint.

Mouthfeel - very full bodied and buttery for a light 5.3% brew.

Overall - This is a respectable and very German tasting Hefeweizen. Flavoring is a tad lackluster to me but overall this is a pleasant and sessionable German beer to go to on occasion. There are better offerings of the style out there but this one is worth a try.

Out of a swing-top bottle and into my glass!

From the bottle: "Gebraut nach dem original bayerischen Reinheitsgebot (Brewed according to the German Purity Law)"; "Im ursprung das original (In the original, the original)".

My pour netted a huge, thick two fingers of tawny head that resembled the top of an ice cream soda. Color was a hazy deep amber. Nose was muted, more clove spicy than anything else. Mouthfeel was medium to full with a big banana taste on the tongue. Finish remained strong with banana esters, but I did catch some clove on the extreme finish. Frankly, that is exactly the taste/flavor profile that I generally eschew in the style. I prefer a more clove-forward hefeweizen. It was not the worst, but neither was it the best, either.

500 ml flip top.

It pours a hazy orange-gold with a large but quickly dissipating and watery white head.

This one has a huge banana scent, almost pure banana with a hint of spiciness. For the most part though it is ripened banana.

The flavor follows suit, banana, and more banana, with a hint of spice and also some lemon and malt.

The mouthfeel is highly carbonated but not overly. It is highly quaffable though sweeter than most Hefeweizens.

Overall a solid Bavarian Hefe.

Serving type: 500 ml bottle. There are notches on the side of the back label but no freshness date.

Appearance: Poured into a half-liter weizen glass. The color is deep orange with an amber tint. Three fingers of dense, white head dissipated slowly to leave an even skim.

Smell: Classic and quintessential. Lots of fruit sweetness tinged with spice. Apple, banana, orange, lemon zest, and a hint of strawberry- or watermelon-flavored bubblegum. Clove and pepper offer an adequate amount of spice.

Taste: Heavy, smooth, and wheaty mouthfeel. The flavors are somewhat muted and intermixed, but they mostly mirror the aromas: apple sweetness, a hint of banana, orange, lemon zest, clove and pepper spice.

Drinkability: Decent hefeweizen. I would prefer a little more taste but it is drinkable and refreshing.

On-tap at Beachwood BBQ

A: A great looking pour on this one. Cloudy golden orange with two fingers of white head that stick to the glass.

S: Doesn't have the best aroma for a German brewed Hefeweizen. A definite lemony tartness to it, but there is a good enough wheat and bread sweetness. A mild clove spiciness and some hints of orange are there also.

T: A significant improvement on the flavor. Sweet and bready with plenty of wheat. There's an oddly tropical flavor to the beer with some fruit notes to it and even a bit of coconut.

M: Medium in body with a lively carbonation.

O: Good in the flavor, which I suppose is what's important, but the nose could use some work.

A - Poured out a cloudy, orange color with a three-finger, off-white head of pillowy, fluffy foam. It left sticky sheets of intricate lace on the glass.

S - It smelled of clove and some banana. A touch of cracked wheat, too.

T - It tasted of sweet wheat, spices, clove and some banana. A good bittersweet blend of flavors.

M - It was crisp, sharp and smooth. A light to medium bodied ale with a dry finish.

O - This is a pretty tasty hefeweizen. Glad I found this one.

m- medium body, some slickness.

d- great hefe, i happened upon a single bottle of this very cheaply. i would pick this up again, it's very flavorful and easy drinking.

Light gold body, big white head, and a sheet of lacing. Lemons and bubblegum on the aroma. Sweet a lightly lemony malt. Not much flavor, but pleasing. Super clean, light and smooth. Highly carbonated. Not much meat on these bones. A real drinker, but its boring flavor profile makes for a beer too boring to take advantage of its drinkability. If you just want a soft beer you can pound, you could do it for a lot less $$$.

Pours slightly hazy orange, lots of light, off-white foam. Weirdly soapy aroma; orange in the flavor plus a touch of spice. (The orange taste notes make me think the soapiness in the aroma was a citrus note that just got weird). Mouthfeel of a much lighter beer- crisp and cool, refreshing.
