Reviewing as I'm drinking this beer... it pours into a Kulmbacher - Monchshof mug a deep amber color that quickly cascades to the top leaving a creamy/foamy white head about an inch thick at the top. The smell is very wheaty/malty but not too overpowering or outstanding. At first taste... The foam follows the beer down the glass slightly and the brew is very easy going and tastes very heavy in maltiness. Not really a big fan of lagers but this one is pretty tasty and pretty easy to drink. Mouth is smooth with fairly little carbonation for this type of beer. No real bite to it at all and average ABV make this beer easily drinkable throughout the night or during any event in which you wish to maintain a casual drinking pace. About what I would expect from something like this. Nothing amazing but not a bad beer overall. Still have the dopple bock to try so we'll see how well this brewery fares through a couple tastings.

A fine example of a fest beer. Pours a hazy/murky amber with thick beaded bubbles that dies down quickly to a big bubbled light foam with light clinging to the glass. Bready aromas and caramel malt on the nose. Light low carbonated mouthfeel with caramel malts and fresh bread up front and very VERY light bittering hops in the background. True to the style and VERY nice indeed. Cheers.

Appearance:
Pours a surprisingly dark brown color with a slight orange tint with a thin, off-white head. Very murky body with fine sediment and light carbonation.

Aroma:
Clean but thick malty caramel. Fresh bread with light toffee notes and even lighter citrus notes.

Taste:
The phrase "liquid bread" has never rung truer than it does with this beer. Rich caramel and a heavy nuttiness dominate the sweet flavor profile but with an unfinished quality... It reminds me of a sample of wort, fresh off the stove and ready for fermentation to begin. Malt seems a bit burnt. An earthy bitterness hits at the end.

Mouthfeel:
The thick body will slow your sipping as this is one heavy beer. It's very filling! Carbonation is nearly impossible to detect. Sweet, sweet finish.

Overall:
A fantastic example of the style. This is a meal in a glass, so prepare to sip it slow. I highly recommend this one to anyone who likes their beer malty and a bit on the sweet side.

On tap at Kickbacks in Jax. Poured into a snifter. White head, moderate retention, soapy lacing, light, clear copper body. Aroma includes a caramel malt sweetness, light bitterness and a nice classic German marzen crispness. Taste follows suit, with a nice nutty, chestnut flavor. Very easy to drink, quite flavorful.

A: Pours a nice amber color with a fingers worth of head that fades down to a very thin cap

S: Very bready and malty. A bit of graininess, toastiness, and sweetness as well

T: Follows the nose. Starts off with a bit of the grain and huskiness followed by a light toastiness. A hint of sweetness, but not much. Quite hearty and bready. A restrained hop presence sneaks in with a touch of earthiness and a faint herbal note. Finishes clean with a bit more husk

M: Medium bodied with moderate carbonation

O: A very hearty and satisfying brew. Quite easy to drink and quaff. Certainly meets the style. Definitely one of the "truer" and more traditional O-Fest beers out there. Worth giving a shot

A very satisfying beer.

Poured from a 16.9 oz bottle (with a ceramic stopper cap) into a pint glass. Honey-amber colored with off-white head. Lots and lots of noticable sediment. I like the hearty look of this beer but I know some will be put off by the amount of visible sediment.

Rich, malty aroma. Flavor is a mouthful. Lots and lots of malt. I can pick up notes of pears, dates, figs and a hint of caramel. Nice background of hops with lots of spices thrown in the mix (I'm assuming from the yeast sediment).

Very full and rich mouthfeel.

Lingering flavors of caramel. A tiny bit of caramel. Very dark-wheat bread-like.

I love this beer and will be drinking more of it in the future.
