Following a stellar Tegernsee 1806 Jubulaim. Obscure beer, never have seen it before.
Pours a typical Helles color, light gold, bit of brown tint. Head here is nice, thick, carbonation is also nice.
Aroma is a bit sharper, almost sour in a lactic acid way. Lemon, malt, bitter. The sourness is actually unpleasant. I love Berliner Weisse, and Flemish funk is one of my favorite things in the world, but this doesnt seem quite right. The vegetal notes mixed with the sourness remind me of cooked cabbage.
The sourness continues in the flavor, not quite as strong as expected(a good thing). A vegetal flavor, light on the malt, finishes quite flat and lacking in carbonation.
I dont want to cut this short, but in comparison with the higher quality Helles-Paulaner, Augustiner, Ayinger..this really does not exist in the same league. Will not purchase again, too bad really cool label and not a bad price.

It seems Scheyern's beers on the export market have slightly different names compared to the "regional" versions for sale in my parts. It could very well be that the beer I'm reviewing is in fact but a name variation on the Kloster-Gold Hell.

A bright golden fluid with a large head and decent lacing.

A pronounced malty nose the way it ought to be with a proper Helles. It's a clean and spicy nose, with a touch of refreshing fruitiness, a bit of hops, a buttery note and a dry impression of biscuits.

Again quite heavy on the malt qua taste, and maybe just a bit overdone. Sweetness is heavy and fruity, but enough room remains for a shade of grainy flavor and a good hoppy note. A clean and very natural taste, very "food-like" and also somewhat rough. Mild warming effect from the alcohol in the chest.

Mouthfeel is soft and full, with delicate carbonation and a firm body.
