A - This beer pours beautiful and dark with moderate light head.

S - smell is fabulous - coffee and chocolate

T - taste of chocolate and coffee is overcome by the roast of the malt. It is smokey in a not so great way.

M - The first thing that my tongue felt was the carbonation. For a stout this felt over carbonated without any creamy or smooth quality.

O - despite the mouthfeel and taste that was different from what I expected, I really enjoy this beer. I am looking forward to trying out of the bottle.

Poured from a 12oz bottle into a pint glass.

A: Pours a dark brown color with some amber hues. A one finger, creamy khaki colored head sits on top. Leaves behind a good amount of lacing.

S: Roasted and bitter chocolatey goodness is the backbone of the aroma. Hints of toffee and sweet caramel round it out.

T: The taste is a tad different than the nose with more roasted malts, while the other flavors of chocolate, toffee, and coffee are a bit subdued.

M: It has a light body for a stout, but is adequately carbonated and has a smooth feel.

O: Not a bad, just a bit above an average stout. The body needs some work, but other aspects are solid.

A stiff pour left me with half a finger of light brown head. Body is black, no lacing noted.

The aromas of roast coffee, malt and chocolate mingle to create a nice nose on this one.

Roasted coffee, roasted malt and chocolate co-habitate in your mouth rather well. As it warms it also takes on roasted nut tones.

Carbonation on this is heavy. It bites the tongue, but keeps the beer flowing. It would likely be sludgy without the help.

Pours almost black with mahogany brown edges when held toward the light, thin tan head forms leaves speckled lacing left behind. Fair retention. Aromatics full of roasted dark chocolate and coffee notes from the dark roasted malt profile utilized here. This is weird, but also a hint of watermelon. Light, herbal, hop profile. Texture is light, watery, and slippery (again, like watermelon juice). Very low carbonation. Finish is like a milk stout with some sourness. No unpleasant detractors in the aftertaste. A nice stout.

Enjoyed with a kobe beef burger at the Flamin' Grill in Sacramento, heck of a place by the way. The organic label is lost on me, I care about my beer being organic about as much as I care about it being free-range or vegan. Whatev'

Pours a nice dark, albeit thin, black, with not much head. The smell comes through with chocolate, roasted notes, a little bit of coffee. The taste is strong with nice bittering chocolate, however, it is conflicted with an overly metallic taste. Really not all that great. Would have preferred a lot more thickness, and frankly a little more alcoholic substantiation.

Not a bad beer, not that good either though, but still worth a try. Without the metal it would be pretty good.

Poured from a 12 oz. capped bottle (no date) into a pint glass.

A strong pour yields a 1 1/2-finger mocha-colored head that slowly fades after a few minutes to a thin, even dusting and thin foam ring. The body is a rich, near-black mahogany that permits no light to pass through it. Great lacing can be seen throughout consumption but only a little bit sticks around.

As is to be expected, dark malts aromas dominate the nose entirely. Notes of roasted coffee beans, dark chocolate, bakers chocolate, brown sugar, and burnt caramel are all discernible.

Just like the nose, each sip contains flavors of dark malts with notes of dark chocolate, milk chocolate, and roasted coffee. The swallow intensifies the flavors of coffee and milk chocolate, creating an espresso-like flavor. As these flavors fade, a light, dry coffee flavor lingers on the palate.

Light to medium bodied with good carbonation, this is a very drinkable stout (especially at only 5% ABV). The body is light and easily flows over the tongue but still offers a big flavor impact. The carbonation is a bit unnecessarily fizzy but does not seem to detract from the flavors or experience much.

Appearance: very dark brown. The head, the carbonation is almost like a soda. Very slight head left after the pour?
Smell: cocoa and roastiness. Nothing very prominent.
Taste: some chocolate and roastiness. Dry finish.
Overall: not a bad beer but quite average.

Poured from a 650ml bottle...

Appearance: Pure darkness with hints of brown cocoa around the edges. Pours with a minor head and nice lacing. Plenty of carbonation.

Smell: Cocoa and chocolate amid the fundamentally roasted malt aromas.

Taste: A dark chocolate molasses is extremely prevalent in the taste among the roast here. Hop bitterness is there giving it some coffee elements of bitterness as well, but overall a nice balance.

Mouthfeel: Carbonation keeps this stout real light and with the low ABV at 5% it doesn't overpower in any way.

Overall: Taste could be more assertive here but overall a light, crisp, refreshing chocolate stout.
