A beautiful bottle with golden letters and a cathedral on it. It pours a bright golden beer with a thick head that fades to a small 1cm head.

Smell is full of light caramalt, little sweet, pretty full-bodied, looks like an urtype pilsner.

Taste is bitter, this does not come out of the smell, a good malt backbone with some slight sulfur. Body is full and there is some honey in there. Aftertaste was dry. Some hoppiness in the end.
Not much taste going on except for the bitterness and malt, this is a clean beer and comes closest to a maibock or helles bock for me.

Purchased at the BSF bar, GBBF 2008, London. BB 10/2008, possibly unpasteurised, served chilled in a large weizen glass.

A: pours a dark golden hue, the white foamy head comes rather thick with great retention, on top of abundant carbonation.
S: the rich grainy maltiness with a touch of wet peanuts comes on a par with deeply aromatic grassy hops, surrounded by an impressive depth of doughy as well as lemony sourness of a well-lagered bier. Overall, not quite complex but as well integrated and pure on the nose as a rich lager should smell.
T: a very soothing, fluffy-textured maltiness leads towards raw peanuts, gristy lager malts, malt syrup, then taken over by a wave of bitter-sweet and slightly powdery grassiness of Saaz hops and a delicate bitter-nutty finish. After a few sips, the sour-sweet edge of malts seems to manifest itself, but still firmly within manageable boundaries and not syrupy in any sense.
M&D: so... smooth on the mouthfeel, much softer than the appearance seems to suggest, while the body is also feather light against the alc. strength. This medium-flavoured Helles Bock with no signs of alc. simply goes down too well that it's dangerously quaffable~~
