OK, I did a little cooking and drinking with this one.
Poured into a Sam Adams Perfect Pint glass (and my red beans and rice sauce)
Appearance: Cola brown, 1 finger head that quickly dissipates; good lacing.
Smell: Nutty, malty. Mmmm...ready to sip.
Taste: Malt/nut combo with brown sugar and a clean, molasses finish. Hints of coffee round it out. Excellent!
Mouthfeel: heavy, thick on the tongue; great carbonation.
Overall: One of the best brown ales I've tried. Cooks well with red beans and rice and tastes great on the side.I'll definitely be trying more of this one. Just right for fall.

Bottle: a big solid 650mL brown bottle with an okay semi-macro label.
Appearance: pours out a dark brown with highlights visible against the light. A tan head pops on the top with good retention and lacing.
Aroma: heavy caramel and molasses dominate here with a touch of balancing earthen hops.
Taste: plenty of milk chocolate with some roast coffee behind. Some brown sugar and molasses add to the ensemble.
Aftertaste: a touch more brown sugar on the finish, but very little bitterness from the hops to meter it out.
Mouth feel: medium in body with a lower- to- moderate carbonation. Quite smooth in texture, but I think it could have done with a tad more carbonation.
Overall: a good combination of rough coffee and smooth chocolate, with some sharp molasses and brown sugar. The only thing holding this brew back for me by far is the price of AU$13 a bottle. A bit steep...
