22 oz bomber poured into shaker pint. Thanks to Jesse13713 for splitting this one with me.
A: Pours a cloudy brown with copper-amber tinges; far darker than I was expecting for the style. A finger of foamy white head appears, with decent retention; decent lacing as well.
S: Fruity and bready malts stand out here; a bit of citrus hops.
T: Piny and citrusy hops build on dark fruit malts to produce a tangy, sweet, fruity beer. The bottle's description of this beer as a hopped up Scottish red ale is very apt- the sweet fruitiness of most Scottish beers is borrowed and well executed by this beer.
M: Medium-bodied with moderate carbonation; sticky and a bit syrupy.
D: A little overly sweet for me; while the flavor is alright, the hops are a bit outbalanced by sweetness. Not a big enough fan to be looking forward to having this one again.
