Pours out a deep dark red, almost mahogany color with a tan colored head. The foam quickly dissipates. Not what I would expect from a "red ale", but impressive nonetheless. The smells are of a rich, hoppy ale. Some dark ripe fruits along with a somewhat subtle citric hop twang. Nice resinous hops hit the tongue with some sweet but roasty malts. Ahh, kinda reminds me of some other hoppy, yet malty based beers I've been enjoying lately. If i didn't know better I would say there is some spicey rye in there but that could be the interplay of the hops fooling me. The beer has a nice smoothless, light carbonation from the natural fermentation. This is a quality beer throughout. This beer would pair well with a nice summer BBQ, or some sweet and spicey smoked wings.

Red Rocket – Amber Ale (6.8%) - Bear Republic (California)
App: Pours a slightly hazy amber brown with a big three finger tan head that retains really well and leaves a lot of lacing up the sides as it settles. No bubble stream.
Smell: Nose is mostly fruity hops aroma with a slight buttery malt character that is sweet and assertive. Hints of pine and grapefruit. Tiniest bit of alcohol.
Taste: Very sweet, somewhat toasted malt profile on the foretaste, progressing to a balanced true taste that showcases pleasant hops bitterness balanced agains some light toffee flavors. After taste is considerably more bitter, with a slight astringency due to the resinous nature of the hops. Flavors really open up as beer warms, with sweetness coming more to the front and making for a very drinkable hoppy amber with notes of toffee, pine and citrus.
Mouth: (Notes Missing)
