12 ounce bottle from BevMo, poured into a pint glass.
A: Dark burgundy color...pretty dark for an amber. Quite hazy. Very nice 2-3 finger tan head, major retention and heavy pitting, nice lacing as well.
S: Good malt up from with mild tropical esters and some brown-sugary sweetness, along with a really nice whiff of citrus hops.
T: A bit roasty actually...the opening malt bill is a bit like Fat Tire, but quickly gives way to the hops. Hops are citrus all the way, a nice grapefruit flavor that lingers for a while. The finish is hoppy but also has a bit of burnt flavor as well.
MF: Thin to medium bodied, and extremely carbonated, almost to the pale ale point. Seems much more carbonated than most ambers ales I've had.
D: Supremely drinkable...the alcohol gets you a nice buzz but nothing outrageous. Flavors are very nice and well balanced. This would be good any time of the year. I guess I wish it were a bit less bubbly, but I don't think it really detracts from the beer. One of the best in this style that I've had.
