(From notes)

A - Lightish orange color with a bit of haze. Thin white head

S - Really subdued aromas, and nothing really sticks out beyond the malt aromas which were faint.

T - Really basic and balanced. Pleasant flavors with some fruitiness coupled with the malts. No real hop presence

M - Thinner MF, not a substantial body. Subtle carbonation

D - Pretty drinkable. Basic, decently rounded brew.

Overall, this wasn't bad, but nothing to write home about. I don't think it challenges Anchor Steam, but it was still an alright brew to sample. I wouldn't highly recommend this, but if you get a chance, why not?

Pint at the Toronado in San Diego for three dollars during happy hour, consumed 9/4/08, reviewed from notes, had never even heard of this beer

A-Golden yellow color with some amber tint, thin 1/2 inch foamy white head that did not last long, not much retention, minimal lacing
S-Toasted bread, other biscuit-like malts, some floral accents, wheat, hints of sweetness, earthiness, and citrus
T-Pretty malty overall, really liked the bready accents, had some lemon in the finish and was chewier than anything else in the middle, got slightly more citrusy as time went on, nicely balanced and not overally dry or sweet
M-Malty and chewy mouthfeel, medium bodied, nice level of carbonation, taste does not linger long
D-Could drink a few pints no problem and probably would have if we were not going to O'Briens right after that, smooth and refreshing, light on stomach, hidden alcohol

A quote from the brewer never hurts, "The base style for this ale is similar to that of a pale ale...It's unique flavor profile is derived from the "special" lagering process."

Have not had many beers from this style but is was quite good, went very well with one of their delicious sausage sandwiches, cannot beat the price either, Bear Republic is usually solid and this was no exception, would drink again, recommended
