Sampled at Night of the Barrels 2009.
Pours moderately murky and red/brown with little head and no lacing or retention. Its about par for the course for sour beers.
Smell was fruity and funky at the same time. Some malt was present in the aroma as well. Anything with brett in it is going to be complex and this is no different.
Flavor is interesting and I'm not quite sure what to make of it. Its sour and fruity but also bitter (which is distracting) and quite malty. Some red (crystal) malts present for sure. In my notes I added "Sour Barleywine" but if I had to guess if they weren't going for a sour barleywine then they were going for a flanders red. It is also quite dry.
Body is thin, which is to be expected but again the bitterness gets in the way. This could have done with a touch more CO2. Wouldn't drink much of this.
Its a good first try for a sour and I would like to see what they can do with the genre. Its just that this one was kind of a miss.

On tap at the 2013 Firestone Walker Invitational held at the Paso Robles Event Center in Paso Robles, CA.
Pours a murky orange with a foamy orange-tan head that settles to a small cap on top of the beer. Foamy swaths of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is sour, tart, and funky with malt, fruit, and acidic aromas. Taste is much the same with fruity and wood flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of acidity on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer that tastes better than it smells in my opinion.

On-tap at Churchill's
A: The beer pours a hazy golden amber color with a small white head.
S: The nose features a Mild vinegar note as well as a distinct Cheerios character. There is some wet oak and grass as well as the ever popular straw/hay. A little booze and a mild malt sweetness.
T: The flavor starts out with a slight sweetness followed by plenty of grass, green apple, and lemon zest. As with the aroma, some vinegar is present, as is the cereal sweetness and flavor of Cheerios.
M: Medium in body with a medium carbonation.
O: While not atrocious, this was not very good by any means.

From 02/27/14 notes. Had on tap at Beer Authority in NYC after their BR event. 14 oz. pour in a stange type glass.
a - Pours a deep reddish color with one inch of off white head and high carbonation evident.
s - Smells sour dark fruits, vinegar, raspberries, sour cherries, oak, light funk, citrus, and earthy notes. Light floral hops. Awesome smell, smells very sour and lots of dark fruits.
t - Tastes of sweet and sour cherries and other dark fruits, citrus hops, oak, light vinegar, earthy notes, grapefruit, fruity malts. Taste is good but less sour than the nose; little bit sweeter.
m - Medium body and moderate carbonation. Lightly acedic but not too much.
o - Overall a really nice wild ale from BR. Not the sourest taste is the world but that is fine, it smells great and tastes very good. Worth checking out.

On-tap during Beachwood BBQ's sour fest. On to the beer:
A pale orange colored beer. Mild tartness hits the nose with a little rye spice. Faint strawberry. To taste, it is a spicy kind of sourness. It has a sharp feeling sourness, which is...um, different. As it ends, tobacco appears. An interesting ride, though it could be improved upon.

On tap at URGE.
A: Dark orange with some transparency and a small white head.
S: Apricot is bright and it's accompanied by vinegar and a little acetone. There's some cherry and light oak notes. The nose has a sugary quality to it.
T: Tart up front with a light lactic sourness. Cherry blends with apricot, plum, and oak. There's a upper low acetic acidity and a little vinegar in the flavor. I get just a touch of acetone.
M: Lower medium body with upper medium carbonation.
Overall: This was well done. Recommended.

On tap at Surly Goat.
Clear golden amber colour with a small white head. Fair lacing and head retention.
Big oak and acid aroma. Tons of coconut and vanilla with a nice acid that works. Some grape notes.
As with the aroma this is a big combo of oak and sour. Fruity esters add interest and are a nice foil for the oak which dominates. Lots of coconut and grape. Acid is plentiful but balanced.
Medium body with moderately-high carbonation. Good.
A really solid beer. Tasty and fun. It seems a touch high on the oak but I still like it.

Served in a glass at the 4th Cellar Party at Bear Republic brewery. Bubba himself poured it. From notes. Reviewed 30 September 2012.
A: No head, light lacing, clear gold.
S: Sour Belgian-wild yeast. It reminds me of an Oud Bruin. Tart, fruity, vinegary, and engaging.
T: Puckery! Fruity. Reminiscent of Lost Abbey Red Poppy. Balsamic raspberries and bright lemon juice. The finish is Brett-funky.
M: Interesting and forceful! It has presence.
O: Great beer; very nice. Highly recommended. A delicious barrel-aged sour.
