Poured into a ceramic cup. Will cut to the chase. There is a great balanced combination between the bitter hops and the malty, stout- like taste present in the dark IPA. In this beer they compliment each other better that one would expect for a CDA. Its understandable why the beer has won awards. The beers(four pack) have a production date on the bottom of can of three months prior, but the over all feel of the beer makes me want to buy another.

A: Pours rich coffee brown with a frothy pale khaki head that settles to a firm layer and laces very nicely.
S: Roasty, earthy, char, coffee, cacao, herbal, grassy, pine, citrus, underlying stone fruit, toasty bready malt, and toffee sweetness.
T: Roasty, mild char, coffee, and cacao, pine, citrus, grapefruit, lemon, and a touch of tangerine, floral, stone fruit undertones, peach, plum, and apricot, slight grassy, herbal, and earthy tones, toasty bready malt, and burnt sugar and toffee sweetness.
M: On the fuller side of medium body, moderate carbonation, slightly creamy.
O: I'm a sucker for black IPAs and this one hits the spot. Great balance, all the classic flavors. Really glad I was finally able to get my hands on a pint of it.

Pours two fingers of tan head on the darkest brown body.
The aroma is roasted malt, pine and a little grapefruit.
The taste is nicely pine bitterness throughout with the roasted malt keeping it in check. Great profile.
The texture is smooth.
Really enjoyable.

Really really good. Black IPAs are all pretty good, this one is right there with my all time favorite Speakeasy Burchertown black IPA.
