Triple-dry hopped Racer 5, i believe. Was once the 5,000th batch of Racer 5, but this is clearly a remake. This stuff was solid - currents of green leafy hop, dank, herbal, loads of citrus. Cool variant of Racer 5 - a nice find on tap.

Poured into a Dogfish Head pint glass. Pours a light to medium golden amber with a thin white head with light lacing. Nice aroma of pineapple and other tropical fruit, citrus, sweet malt and citrus hops. Flavor is very citrus forward, lemon, orange and grapefruit, taping off to finish with a moderate piney, citrus hop finish with long lingering peppery bitterness. Medium bodied. An interesting approach to an IPA; the citrus comes on strong at first, but is very nicely balanced by the malt body, I'm impressed by the balance. Hops are not quite as intense as I expected, but are also nicely presented by the balance of the other elements. Interesting and thirst quenching. I would get this again if it is ever bottled.

This IPA is a rusty amber color, clear but a bit hazed. The head is big flimsy bubbles that break up quickly to settle into a quiet rim of little bubbles. Lacing is modest. The aroma offers a very clear shot of orange-lemon citrus beauty. There's a subtle oat grain there too to balance it out nicely. The flavor echoes the aroma with solid citrus hop over a tea and wheat blend. Lots of tasteful orange and light lemon. It's medium bodied with medium carbonation and a lazy feel that works fine. Not as great as i expected but plenty good.

A-Pours a cloudy orange color with a very slight head. Looks just like Racer 5, one if the best readily available beers out there.
S-Aroma brings forth a decent amount of candied citrus and tangerines. Light pine and a bit more grass. Subtly sweet caramel and wet bread malt.
T-We'll hopped but I'm not sure if the flavones presented here are my favorite. I get strong candied citrus, which I don't always love the sweetness that accompanies this flavor. Lots of tangerines, too. Some caramel and breads notes.
M-Dry, bitter and a bit resiny. Pretty drinkable though.
O/D-A decent beer but give me Racer 5 over this any day. A tasty treat that I probably won't see again.

Draft service into a shaker pint glass at Bear Republic pub in Healdsburg.
A: Clear, brassy golden color with a webwork of residual white bubbles. Light lacing remains on the glass.
S: Moderately intense hops qualities of grapefruit peel and green plant stems; otherwise clean.
T: Begins dry, with aggressive grapefruit citrus that is juicy and aromatic. A backbone of well-toasted grain is revealed during the middle, after hops qualities moderate somewhat. Spicy bitterness clings to the palate as eastablished qualities ease into late balance.
M: Medium viscosity, resinous and slightly acidic on the palate, with brisk carbonation.
D/O: While the wild-type Racer 5 seems a bit delicate and nuanced by modern standards, this triple-hopped version is obviously something noteworthy. The stolid but unobtrusive malt bill carries the increased hops load well, yet still manages to not vanish completely. This IPA serves as an excellent showcase for the Centennial cultivar of hops.
