Served from a bonber bottle. Beer pours with a great deal of carbonation, and a dense off white head that eventually settles down to a nice, thick layer of foam. This beer has a much darker complexion than i would expect of the style, very reminiscent of a dunkelweizen in fact. There is also a steady stream of nice, tight carbonation releasing toward the head that looks very inviting. The aroma is pleasant, but lacking the banan ester punch I look for in a weizen. Taste is also pleasantly malty, though it does have a pleasant hops bitterness sneaking up in the aftertatste. It does lack the classic banana bubblegum character of the style though. Mouthfeel is nice and sturdy, with a pleasing level of nice, tight carbonation in evidence. Overall, a nice brew, but somewhat lacking in classic hefeweizen character.

Quaffable, fresh as on tap wheat ale, obtained a couple of months ago on Chicago trip. Brilliant yellow with a small head, and lace. Appropriately carbonated. Neutral aroma, average and smooth mouthfeel. Mid mouthfeel cheese buffeted by understated bitterness on finish.

Much thanks for this bottle to my buddy Richard.

A: Hazy apricot as it pours. a somewhat subdued white head eventually comes from the body of the beer. In the glass it is a hazy dirty orange amber.

S: The first smell has a lot of caramel in it. As well as some sweet fruity noted. I am almost picking up a hint of pineapple juice. Not like fresh pineapple, but the canned juice. Almost a hint of grapefruit. Perhaps some berry notes, and a little of a wine like smell. Crackers round out the finish.

T: Some like bread notes. There is a little herbal bitterness in the finish. Perhaps a little light citrus. Not a lot happening here.

M: Very light and crisp feeling. Carbonation is heavy, and there is a slight oily residue in the finish.

O: I'm not really impressed. Most the malt flavors seem muted, not a lot of hop flavor is coming through, and the bitterness seems unbalanced. Overall it seems a bit boring. I suppose it could be a decent summer beer, but still plenty of other brews in the world with similar style but more character.
