A traditional english brown ale, very nutty aroma towards hazel and Brazil nuts, deep brown in color and very well rounded body

Very dark cola-brown color; hardly any light passes through. The head is thin, only about 1/8th inch & dissipates quickly to 50% skim, 50% bubbles. A few deformed, circular dollops of lace. Swirling draws forth a little foam.
Molasses is solid in the nose, providing a sugary overtone to an otherwise dry, roasted malt aroma. Earthy hops & toasted grains. Smooth notes of toffee. Sweetens up as it warms, seemingly with notions of honey.
This doesn't taste nearly as complex or impressive as the aroma would have me believe. Some dark malts & hints of roasted coffee sit underneath molasses & enough of a hoppy kick to balance out the beer. I can't complain though; it tastes decent & has grown on me.
Surprisingly thin feel for a fairly full-bodied (or at least a hefty medium) beer. Carbonation is rather low & seems appropriate. The feel does thicken as the beer warms. The finish is mostly dry, with a touch of residual sugar & bitterness. Faint hint of charcoal.
Pretty solid overall; I just think it would be more enjoyable if the taste could mimic the excellence of the aroma. All in all it seems to be pushing hoppy porter/stout territory, but no matter...

Aroma is malty along a strong hint of sweetness, probably from the molasses. The flavor is caramel and malty and has a heavy sweetness from the molasses. Decent ale although the molasses made it a bit too sweet for my tastes.
