Had on tap at the bottle release. Got skunked on bottles, but had a few of these and it made up for it.
A: Pours a murky dark brown with hues of mahogany around the edges. A bubbly light tan head forms on the pour recedes to a thick collar that leaves some splotchy stick behind.
S: Sweet bourbon, vanilla and toffee fill the nose right away and it gives way to a mild oak, brown sugar, burnt bitter sugar and some alcohol soaked dark fruits.
T: The taste follows the nose, but is much more complex and balanced. The barrel shines through a lot more with a smooth bourbon, light oak, sweet vanilla and caramel and a touch of brown sugar. Dark fruity notes show themselves here and there as well. There is a mild cocoa towards the backend and a minimal rye spice on the finish. The alcohol is well hidden and there is just a mild warming towards the finish.
M: Creamy and smooth with a heavily flavored body and a medium to low carbonation. The finish is a smooth and sweet bourbon barrel with a touch of rye.
O: A delicious beer and very well balanced. I was expecting more rye spice to come out, but I actually didn't miss it too much when all was said and done. The alcohol is very well hidden and this is a must try beer.

S - Caramel, brown sugar and oak dominate a malty nose
T - Caramel, brown sugar, and dates are up front. There is a slight hop bitterness still remaining despite the beer's age. There is also some slight dark chocolate and oak spice near the end
M. - Sweet and thick beer that has some spice from the oak near the finish
O - Flossmoor makes great BA barley wines and this one continues that tradition.
