On tap at the Flossmoor pre-DLD event.

Pours dark cloudy light brown with a minimal off-white head that fades immediately. Some lacing, but was served in a plastic cup.

Very well integrated bourbon on the nose. Loads of toffee along with vanilla, oak and bourbon and a distinct rye spiciness.

This beer is perfectly balanced. Loads of toffee balance out the harshness of the bourbon and create a very smooth flavor. Almost tastes like a rye whiskey at times. Alcohol adds flavor, but hardly any boozy burn. Fantastically well hidden and integrated.

Does get too sweet as some barleywines do. Medium bodied with low carbonation.

Outstanding beer! One of the best I had the whole weekend. A great way to start a weekend of fantastic beer and loved Flossmoor as well.

S - Caramel, brown sugar and oak dominate a malty nose

T - Caramel, brown sugar, and dates are up front. There is a slight hop bitterness still remaining despite the beer's age. There is also some slight dark chocolate and oak spice near the end

M. - Sweet and thick beer that has some spice from the oak near the finish

O - Flossmoor makes great BA barley wines and this one continues that tradition.
