Not bad overall, but some weird off-flavors in there telling me the bottle I sampled did not hold up very well.

Batch 1

I've never popped a beer with a little rust showing on the cap. I'm scared.

Pours a very dark reddish brown with just a little head. Almost totally opaque.

Nose is sweet. Caramel. Brown Sugar. Malt. Not really getting any bourbon.

Taste follows the nose however there is a bitter astringency on the finish. This one is definitely a bit oxidized. It's not horrible, but I don't think I'll be finishing the bottle.

Wish I could have had this fresh.

S - Caramel, brown sugar and oak dominate a malty nose

T - Caramel, brown sugar, and dates are up front. There is a slight hop bitterness still remaining despite the beer's age. There is also some slight dark chocolate and oak spice near the end

M. - Sweet and thick beer that has some spice from the oak near the finish

O - Flossmoor makes great BA barley wines and this one continues that tradition.
