Appearance: Hazy, deep golden body, with a robust, dense, fine-beaded and persistent head. Very fine beading coats the glass wall in an unbroken sheet of lacing. Modest streams of minute bubbles drift lazily to the surface.
Aroma: Rich notes of ripe bananas, lesser cloves dominate the aroma. There is a mild presence of wheat malt, as well. There are, surprisingly, some subtle notes of ripe dark grapes.
Taste: Opening with bready malt and earthy yeast, soon followed by ripe bananas and cloves. Underlying this, there is a bit of ripe dark fruit, more of grape skins than anything else. Though subtle, this carries throughout the taste. Finishes with a mild, lingering note of cocoa and a whisper of port wine.
Mouth feel: Smooth and pleasant, quite pleasant to the palate.
Drinkability/notes: Really quite good, for an example that has suffered months in a can. One wonders how good it might be, fresh from the tap.
Presentation: Packaged in a 500 ml (16.9 ounce) aluminum can, served in a Duvel chalice. The "EXP DATE" is 05/2021.

$ 2.50 (Including tax)/500 mL can ($0.148/oz) from Costco, Schertz, TX. Part of the Costco 2019 Advent Calendar. Reviewed 11/09/19.
Can dated “EXP 05/2021”. Stored on the shelf at the store, stored at home at 42 degrees and served at 50 degrees in a hand washed and dried weizen glass.
Appearance – 3.25.
First pour – Light yellow, slight haze.
Body – Light gold, slight haze.
Head – Large (Maximum fourteen cm, quickly stabilizing at nine, aggressive center pour), white, medium density, good retention, eventually diminishing to a ragged ten mm crown and complete cap.
Lacing – Poor. A few elongated three-dimensional pieces of foam remain hanging on the sides of the glass.
Aroma – 3.25 – Weakly fruity and a bit of bubblegum and grain, no hops.
Flavor – 3.5 – Begins lightly fruity and sweet, ends with some faint chocolate. No distinct yeastiness. No alcohol (5 % ABV as marked on the can) flavor or aroma, no diacetyl, no dimethylsulfide.
Palate – 3.25 – Medium, watery, soft carbonation.
Final impression and summation: 3.5 Other than the faint chocolate taste, this appears to be a straight hefeweizen. Still, despite the paucity of lacing, it’s an attractive brew with a decent taste and aroma.

500 ml can with 5% ABV stamped on the bottom of the can with a production date of July 2015 and a EXP(iration) date of Sept. 2016.
Appearance - hazy brown-copper body a decent if short, off-white head that leaves little lacing.
Aroma: fruity and spicy, including banana notes.
Flavor: Wheaty, spicy and fruity. Includes banana and clove with a hint of nutmeg. About equal bitter/sweet balance but leaning towards sweet. Mild baked bread flavor in the aftertaste.
Feel: Near medium body and medium carbonation. Slick.
Overall: OK.

500ml can, day 5 of the 2015 Costco Beer Advent Calendar - lots of brews from this single German brewery, already, it would seem.
This beer pours a murky, dark orange-brick brown colour, with two fingers of puffy, finely foamy, and somewhat creamy ecru head, which leaves some low-lying, distant headland lace around the glass as it evenly subsides.
It smells of semi-sweet, doughy wheat malt, sugary banana pudding, earthy yeast, a bit of free-agent dark toast, muddled black orchard fruit, and a weak weedy, leafy, and grassy noble hoppiness. The taste is bready and lightly roasted caramel and wheat malt, still heady wet banana chip esters, faint yeast, subtle clove and white pepper spice, a waning indistinct fruitiness, and more plain earthy, weedy hop bitters.
The carbonation is quite understated in its quotidian and mostly banal frothiness, the body a so-so medium weight, and generally smooth, with a small airy creaminess arising as things warm up a tad. It finishes well off-dry, the malt more caramelized than roasty, and that banana cream pie thing lingering on.
Overall, a dunkelweizen very much in the same vein as your Erdingers of the world - simple, approachable, but not really noteworthy or memorable. Easy to drink, I suppose, but that's only because a few of the typical identifying characteristics are either absent or minimally represented.
