Bought as part of a 4 pack of 500ml cans from Beers of the World on 7/27/13.

Poured into a large Pilsener glass served cold.

appearance: light gold with a towering white head. Lack of strong lacing is disappointing.

aroma: classic noble hops overlay the pilsner malt. lovely.

mouthfeel: soft but full

taste: this is a strongly hopped version of the style. malt brings up the rear solidly.

notes: a well crafted example of a very familiar style.

500ml can served in a shaker pint. Dated 2023.07.12.

Pours clear brassy golden, smallish coarse head with a thick skin of head. Lots of active carbonation. Smell is mild, bread and grass.

Taste is slightly yeasty and strong grassy or leafy bitterness. Long bitter aftertaste.

Mouthfeel is light, clean, crisp. Overall, I quite like this.

500ml can from the LCBO. Expiry date of August 31, 2024, so roughly 4 months old.

L: Crystal clear, light yellow hue, with two fingers of rocky white foam. A few strands of lacing on the pilsner glass.

S: Baked white bread and boxed cereal (plain Cheerios come to mind). Herbal, grassy & mildly floral hopping. Some lemon wedge and the faintest hint of sulphur.

T: Mostly follows the nose.

F: Light side of medium bodied, crisp carbonation through middle. Dry finish with a lengthy, firm and lingering bitterness.

O: While this is a widely distributed beer that drinks on the milder end of the style, it's still a textbook German pils that I would gladly revisit.

This is a classic German Pils but it's hard to judge it when not drinking it at the source (lagers travel better than ales but a transatlantic trip can be too much even for them). It offers all the classic notes of a German pils but admittedly with a bitterness that is a little bit toned down.

This beer continues to show that Germany beats USA when it comes to Pilsners. Very tasty and easy drinking.

A beautiful Pilsner with a bit of a bittery hoppy taste.

Smooth to the pallet. Great with pairing with pork or beef

16 oz can, dated 3/29/23, best by 3/28/24

Clear light golden in color, bone white colored head. Decent head retention. Aroma of crackery pale malt, a touch of grassy hops. Taste is fairly clean bit a little sweet. Thinner bodied.

Poured a 500ml bottle into a pint glass. A big three finger fluffy white head on a clear yellow. The head diminishes to a layer.
Grassy smells.
Tastes of bready, grassy malt. a mild hop finish.
Light body and medium carbonation. Well balanced.
A pretty good German Pilsner.

Pours pale with a white head that fades quickly.

This is not a very aromatic beer, but there is a balance between malt and hops.

There is less balance in the taste, where the malt clearly plays second fiddle to the hops. This mix is fine by me, and I like the lingering bitterness in the aftertaste.

The mouthfeel is a bit too light to my taste. The carbonation is sharp up front, but leaves a light and somewhat watery mouthfeel to replace it.

Overall, this is a very good Pilsner that I can always distinguish from other brews in the genre.

Some reviewers complain that Bitburger uses hops extract. I can understand that complaint lodged by IPA aficionados against IPAs that rely on extracts to achieve over-the-top bitterness. In that genre such a practice might be seen as not fighting fair. As regards Bitburger, though, the use of hops extract is more expedience than a trick to manipulate flavor. Moreover, Bitburger is quite open about the practice.
