Highlights:

Taste/Mouthfeel: Slight watermellon and malt taste. Watery with a hint of creaminess to it.

Ap: There was a huge creamy head to this beer when poured. Very attractive.

Drinkability/Notes: This beer is not something you would search high and low to get but if you see it in the store, please try it. A nice alternative to the BMC beers.

Poured into a stein from a half-liter bottle. I'm not sure if this was the proper glassware but fack it.

I haven't seen too many beers with a color like this brew. It's got a pale brown body with blonde hues and a quite cloudy appearance. The head doesn't stick around long, but it does leave a frothy lace behind.

Molasses is big on the nose, as is what I would have to call butterscotch. I also get an oatmeal like aroma. It smells like a sweet breakfast.

Molasses continues its crusade to the tongue, but here there's some caramel joining, a light touch of hops that have a slight vegetable quality, and a strong dose of minerality.

Despite the heavy malt flavors, this beer is light and feels thin-bodied, but in a good, drinkable way. It's refreshing and has a stiff bitter finish that undoes all the preceding sweetness.

I'm still learning about these kellerbiers, but I enjoy this one. I think I need to delve into this style much more to learn just how well this beer represents it.

Appearance - this is dark for the style, copper brown body with off white head

Smell - honey, baked bread, whole wheat

taste - similar to the aroma - slight honey sweetness, baked bread, whole wheat

mouthfeel - medium bodied, medium to high carbonation, slight sweetness upfront, bready finish, clean and refreshing, keeps you wanting to come back for another sip

Overall - this was dark for the style, but a good beer. give it a try if you see it

Price Point - $5.29/16.9 oz swingtop bottle

Tasted On: 10-10-2013
Freshness: Not indicated
Packaging: 500ml brown bottle, swing-top
Glassware: Seidel
Purchased: Single from Pour Vous, Hendersonville, TN

A: Clear, dark amber beer with 3 fingers of off-white head. Retention is good but there is not much lacing. I was expecting a cloudier beer than this based on the style notes.

S: Bready malts, plus spicy yeast and some earthy hop character. Nice

T: Caramel malts have some toasted flavor. Other tastes are woody and earthy hops.

M: The finish is fairly dry with a little vegetable unpleasantness in the aftertaste. Carbonation is average with a medium body.

O: All in all a good brew, but not very noteworthy. Would be better as a beer to have with a meal than all on it's own like I had.

Pours a rich amber with a nice two finger fluffy cream colored head. Nice, dark, somewhat see through. Looks appetizing!

Smells of nice nutty, creamy, honey, and cereal malts. Hard to pick up any hop notes, but the yeast is coming through.

Taste is first noticeable with that distinct cereal and toast note. Slight caramel malts with a touch of yeast. Again, it's hard to pick up any hop bitterness and is very subtle. Feels light and round on the tongue. Medium amount of carbonation in the appearance but feels like more. It has a nice amount of thickness for the abv of this beer. The drink-ability is pretty nice, something I could have with a meal or on it's own.

Overall, it's a great example of the style. This is one I would love to have on tap and something I could drink a lot of. Makes me want to explore the style even further.

Food pairings: Soft Pretzel, sausage, mashed potatoes, slow roasted beef

Poured from the bottle into a stange glass.

A very dark Keller, and quite clear actually. Dark brown chestnut like amber, with a light coffee tan like head of about a finger. Settles to a nice puck very slowly. This looks more like an Altbier to me though. Maybe something new variety wise here!

A nice aromatic caramel, but very light and clean. Light sweetness of clove sense and nutmeg, very light brown spices and brown toasted bread. Interesting.

Very light palate, with a clean clove and sweet caramel flavor. Lightly carbonated with a the mid palate forming with some good toasty aromas and sweetness. A solid palate fills with a little bit of raisin character and dark dried fruits. Kind of a nutty brown ale sense to this also, with dark fruit estery tastes.

This sort of reminds me of Dampfbier a bit but a lighter sweetness which is more noticeable and a good fruity character to it also. However, this is not what I normally want out of a Keller.

Poured from a bottle at das bierhaus, Burlington vt

Pours a deep amber with red hues. Little bits of light brown dissipate immediately. Great color. No bubbles

Very mild aroma. Light fruit and toasted nut with whole wheat bread.

Taste starts watery, then hits with flavors of whole wheat bread, slight toffee and a hint of raisin. Finishes with a lovely caramel/mild stone fruit flavor.

Light bodied, low carbonation, one of the cleanest finishes on a beer I've ever had.

Very nice, easy drinking beer that I'd gladly indulge in again.

Appearance: Not much of a head (though it left several shards behind) and the liquid is clear but what is most notable is the color - the best comparison is the color of Scotch

Smell: Yeasty, with a strong caramel character

Taste: Malt heavy, with toast and caramel flavors dominating the front end; a smidge of grassy hop influence arrives in the middle, but the finish is a return to the form anticipated up front

Mouthfeel: Medium body with low carbonation

Overall: I can't get very excited by this beer - way too malty for my palate and the mouthfeel was flabby
