Nice little pop given off from the flip top. The beer pours easily compared to the other Moosbacher varieties. There is very little head that disipates quickly. The color is a clear golden. The smell is of sweet malt with a light pleasant bitter hops. The flavor is of malts up front with a nice amount of carbonation, and a hint of hops in the back end. Very good beer, high drinkability. Nothing too exceptional. Great well balanced beer if you want to have a light malty beer without all the hops.

Appearance - This lager came out looking sharp with an ultra-deep but clear yellow color and the typical MHL head that came up nicely then went down in a minute.

Smell - This is a very clean aroma of quality malts with little hops. The malt has a lot of depth to the smell. It's very wheaty but not like a weizen and there is little sweets to be had at the nose.

Taste - Here again the ingredients are very crisp. The lagered grains are just raw enough to generate some excitement but not the adjunct mishmash you find in cheaper version of the style. Again there is little sweetness to this profile. It's a bold move by the brewer because if the malt flavors aren't working then this beer will suck, but they hit the nail on the head here with these simple but powerful flavors.

Mouthfeel - This is heavier than light-bodied but not quite medium. It is extremely thirst-quenching with no bitterness.

Drinkability - I have to disagree with most of the middle-range scores given to this beer thus far. I really enjoyed this offering and put it in my top ten or so MHLs I've had here stateside.

Thanks to bu11zeye for sharing this bottle.

The beer pours a yellow color with a white head. The aroma is grain and some grassy hops. The flavor is grain, wheat and grassy hops. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation. There is nothing wrong with this beer, it is just not too exciting.

Appears a pale golden straw hue the glass is lined with chill haze, a bright white head forms nicely but dwindles rather quickly. Ample lacing is left evenly in my new Prima Pils glass. Aroma has a semi sweet toasted malt lightly toasted crackers or biscuit malt presence. Semi tart character going on with very light herbal hops in the background. Flavor has cereal notes with herbal hops a mineral character going on as well. A pretty bland and straight forward light German lager. Mouthfeel is light bodied with moderate carbonation nothing too exciting or overwhelming here, nice packaging with pretty average beer. Drinkability is pretty easy going a mellow, low flavor thirst quenching lager no complaints really does most things the style sets out to do.

Pours a very pale golden body, that about a full shade lighter than most of its peers. It's almost straw-yellow. The head is meager, forming only a temporary stark-white surface scum.
Nose of honeyed pears, limestone, mineral water, and sweet basil.
Through the mouth, a touch of graham cracker maltiness transitions into those same honeyed pears, and a of flash lightly tart grapes or lychee fruit. Brisk, and well lagered middle full of spring water and talcum powder. Hopping is herbal, and more slaking than featured or bittering.
Light-bodied, and a little loose in structure, with a good amount of on-going carbonation. It certainly fits the demeanor of the beer. I could drink an ungodly amount of it, not because it's utterly captivating, but because its simply that drinkable and refreshing.
This is anything but big. It's even a bit meek in the helles lager style. But it has a certain charm to it.

Bottle courtesy of Mike at Cole's. A drinkable though moderately astringent lager. Light yellow cpolour, littl head, a bit of lace at end. ARoma is interesting. A bit of less than average mouthfeel, grainy, a bit of hops, above average carbonation.Helles lager.

"Use before 12/08" notched on the side of the label. 16.9oz flip top bottle with stopper. Pours a golden yellow color with a thin white head that quickly fades away. The aroma features a pretty nice grainy maltiness with not much in the way of hops. The taste is sweet malt up front, with the spicy hops being a bit more noticeable than in the aroma. The taste is in now way overly complex or anything, but it is a solid lager. The drinkability is very nice, I could see myself enjoying a few bottles over a nice German meal. Overall, this is a pretty good lager that I wouldn't mind trying again. Definitely worth a try.

Almost three fingers of head on a hazy, medium straw colored body.
The aroma is faint overall; a little grain. Should have a lot more going on here.
The taste is light bitterness with some graininess to it.
The texture is crisp with moderate carbonation.
Not great, not bad.

Poured from a ,5 L bottle to a tall glass mug. The liquid is a bright gold with ok carbonation. The head is one creamy finger, white and leave some lace.

The smell is very nice, like a slightly toasted biscuit with a smoky note.

The taste follows well big and bready taste. Nice lightly hoped finish

The mouthfeel is good, nice carbonation and very nice body.

The drinkability is good. I do like this brew and hope to find it fresh again.

500mL bottle, as pictured above:

The beer poured a clear yellow with hints of orange and appeared to have a smoky quality to it as well. That is the best way to describe it. I have never seen anything like it before. The beer poured a one-finger head that dissipated quickly and did not leave a cap of any lacing.

The beer gave off a malty/grain aroma and also had an unusual sour-ish aroma as well. That was very unexpected.

The flavor of the beer was mostly grainy, with perhaps a slight floral hop to it, but it was very light.

The beer had a light feel to it. The beer was clean and smooth. Overall, not a bad beer, but certainly not the best representation of the style. I doubt that I will pick this one up again.

From the 500 ml. bottle with an expiration date of 10/10. Sampled on December 31, 2009. It pours a clean looking golden yellow with a short-lived fizzy white head and bubbly carbonation. The aroma clearly gives away its German origin with the expected malt, bready, and barley combination. The taste also had a strong note of malts but it was a little on the sour side. Fairly typical for its style but nothing exciting.

A: A sparkling clean brassy-orange with a light and spacious show of quickly paced micro-bubbles lies within. The head is slight and compact, off white in color, and quick to fall void of lace. Wish the head was sturdier, a lager always looks better with a frothy head in a pitcher or mug.

S: The nose was grainy with a fresh sense of mixed grains, barley, dried whole corn cobb, with a complimentary green flowery hop nature that was light, yet still of appreciable strength per style. A bit of lightly dried orange skin also comes about late in the aroma.

T: The flavor was clean, fresh and grainy with an accent of noble green flower hops. A bit of buttered grains with a bit of fresh green hops on the swallow really brings the finish to life. Fairly clean, bready, with a sparkling nature.

M: Not as crisp as I normally like. Pretty good fullness body wise with a slippery texture.

D: Good drinkability, a summertime lager with a clean malty body and noble green hopping I come to expect per style. A good intro beer for friends into the world of craft and lagers/helles as it is not overbearing and fairly easy to handle, but with much better flavor and fulfillment then your typical American adjunct.

1/2 ltr flip top picked up yesterday at Cafe Limone in Nampa while Brenda was scouting a wedding location.. $5/bottle is certainly a big draw on the wallet... Bottle says best by 12 of '08 so I have high hopes that this is going to be fresh bottle.

Poured into my smaller Schneider Weisse glass... 2 finger head dies back to no lacing.. brew is crystal clear golden.. very nice.

Aroma is a grainy pilsner malt and little else.. some very background spicy hops may be present, or that just may be me trying to justify a damn expensive bottle of brew.. overall, very clean.

Flavor mirrors the aroma but with a more malty profile.. Could probably use a little bit more bitterness to support the subtle sweetness.. but still again very balanced. Body and carbonation are pretty much perfect.. Everything about this brew is still screaming fresh to me... I am glad I bought it but again it was expensive... I will pick it up again, but only when I am trying to nail down/brew a helles... big props to Market Limone! This is the only place in the area where we can get this brew.

another off the shelf new one for me that i grabbed for a palate cleanser. served cold and poured into a pint glass.

nice pour with a very clean light yellowish amber and a smooth white head that sat on top nearly perfectly, until it faded with minimal lacing. aroma is very earthy an bready with tons of malts and hints of cereal grains. mute grains, little hops but a clean and smooth feel and finish left me with a slick, minimal after taste and a cleansing feel overall.

not bad, its a lager, and it works for it was meant for, no complaints.

A: The beer is crystal clear light yellow in color and has a light amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a finger high bright white head that quickly died down, leaving a thin layer of bubbles covering the surface, a collar around the edge, and lots of lacing down the sides of the glass.
S: Moderate aromas of sweet, bready malts are present in the nose along with hints of grassy hops.
T: Like the smell, the taste is dominated by flavors of bready malts and has faint hints of sweetness, but these are nearly completely masked by a slight amount of bitterness.
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied and a little clean on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This is decent represention of the style, but seemed like it could have used a little more in the way of hops to strike a balance with the malts.

Poured from a bottle into a Sam Adams stein. Very clear, light gold in color, and sports about 2 fingers of rocky white head (not as much as I expected, despite a pretty rough pour). The nose is delightful. It's sweet and malty with notes of fresh bread and bartlett pairs.

Light body and a clean, malty flavor with just a hint of hoppy spiciness. The beer is nice and sweet with low bitterness. The noble hops at mid-palate mix with the malt and infuse an apple-like flavor into the beer. Very pleasant and easy-drinking, but lacks any malt complexity. A beer to be enjoyed with a meal, not much more.

Poured this 500 mL brown bottle into a pils glass. Best before date notched 6 10. There was a whispy pop when I opened the swingtop. A vigorous pour resulted in a moderate head of white foam. A cap remained throughout and left light lacing. Golden body was typical.

Smell was sweet lemons. A tiny bit funky as it warmed, I assume this is the nobel hops aromas.

Taste was bright hops and gentle bitterness. Moderately grainy and richer than expected. Solid.

Mouthfeel was smooth with minimal carbonation. I would gladly drink this one again.

Got this on sale for $2.99 at WineSource in Baltimore. We now move on to the third quarter of drink the shitty beer. I bought four Moosbacher varieties and the first two thoroughly let me down. Hopefully this one redeems the brewery.

2.5 A: Not quite a finger of head, even with a very aggressive pour. Not really any lacing. Piss yellow in color, like a typical macro.

3.0 S: A hint of sweetness but mostly grainy. Not bad, much better than the appearance, but nothing special either.

2.0 T: Little going on here. Grains and straw. It's basically a typical American macro that doesn't want to make you throw up. It's just nothing and bland.

1.5 M: No carbonation at all. Not creamy. Again, nothing.

2.0 D: I think I'll save some money and buy Keystone Light.

Don't ever buy this beer. You'd be paying for a shit American macro that just happened to be brewed in Germany.

1/2 liter flip-top bottle.

Clear yellow colored beer with a medium sized head.

Smell is strongly of grain and noble hops. Strong grass and herbs from the hops and it is mildly spicy.

Starts out mild and slightly bready without a strong flavor. Herbal hop dominates the flavor after a bit, just not much malt to hold it back. Fairly dry but there just isn't that much taste here.

Mouthfeel is average.

Overall this is OK you certainly are not going to choke on flavor.

This isn’t a must try beer.

Flip-top bottle, "Use by 12 '08":

Pours light straw-golden with a thin head that quickly disappears, leaving a clean glass.

The smell is of sweet grain with a light whiff of Continental-type hops. Smells like an average Helles Lager with a nice grainy touch.

Thet taste is of a typical/run-of-the mill Helles, for the most part - grainy, with a slight light nuttiness. The hops seem a bit washed-out, bland. Sweetish, rather abrupt finish, with some water peeking through. Light-bodied, blandish feel, though not fizzy.

This is a pedestrian/mediocre Helles. Pretty bland. Easy enough to drink, but there are much better, crisper, tastier lagers out there.

Pours a golden ginger ale color with little head to be found. Mild, malty aroma with little hops perceived. Low carbonation and lacing. Taste is malty with the slightest hops in the distant background and a thin mouthfeel. A bit on the sweet side, this brew would definitely benefit from a more pronounced hoppiness. All in all a decent lager, but nothing more than average and something I would not seek out.

16.9oz bottle via Christmas gift. Thanks for the opportunity, Kris. Notched best by Mar07.

Poured into an imperial pint glass, formed a 1/2" bright white head above the clear light gold (yellow?) brew. Head falls gradually, with extra-sticky white lace. Aroma is minimal, light malts and hoppiness. Taste starts with sweet pale maltiness, and is balanced by crisp hoppiness soon after. Light fleeting tartness out of place in the center. Mouthfeel and drinkability are middle of the road. As my other experience with them, nothing bad, just nothing standout either.
