Not a very interesting hefeweizen here. Smell and taste of wheat and yeast without the lemon, orange, coriander, spice that I enjoy in most hefeweizen. Flavors overall are faint, and the beer is overall quite forgettable although certainly not bad. Mouthfeel is somewhat creamy for the style with fairly low carbonation. While I respect the beer for what it is (it comes from Bavaria and uses only water, barley, wheat, hops, and yeast) I wasn't able to pick up on the complexity that I was hoping to find. Maybe I'm missing something, but it just didn't do that much for me.

Two previous Moosbachers (Pilsener & Schwarze Weisse) were rather disappointing. This beer pours murky amber with very stable off-white head. Smell is a bit weak, but clear, citruses, banana, yeasts. Taste is spicy owing to clove, citrusy with yeasty aftertaste, medium body, good carbonation, normal hefeweizen.

I enjoyed this beer while stationed in Germany during 1969 to 1970. With a shot of White or Red Corn, you couldn't ask for a better combination. And with a plate of knockwurst or bratwurst with a side order of Pommes Frites . It was the perfect meal.

Pours a cloudy blonde with a two-finger head into my glass. Very good presentation. Authentic.

Clove, citrus and wheat aromas in the nose. Very inviting to the nose.

Light with wheat and clove flavors. Seems a little "off" but otherwise, this is as authentic as it can get.

Clove, clove and clove. Nothing much more that lingers.

Would probably taste better fresh. Gotta know when to pick 'em. I waited too long.

Served in a Bruery snifter.

Got this as a sample, figured I'd give this brewery a shot./ It pours a lightly hazy golden straw topped by over a finger of white foam. The nose comprises wheat, very light coriander, and light light orange zest. The taste brings in more of the same, but is also cursed by a strong must on both the wheat and the orange, leaving a strongly bitter and unpleasant flavor on the tongue. The body is a light medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a fairly smooth feel. Overall, a weak hefe, indeed, one that couldn't come close to the better German examples.

Served the bottle into my Weizen glass. Love the bottle design with the hard cap.

A: golden cloudy color with a three finger head that faded quickly. Hardly any lacing.

S: wheat, cloves, some citrus, lemon present on the nose. It's not strong but nice enough to enjoy it while you sip the beer.

T: taste is very crisp and solid. Wheat is predominant, citrus, yeast and slight hints of banana.

M: feels lighter than most German Hefes. Carbonation was right and helps in the smoothness of the beer. Very drinkable.

O: I was surprised at how good this beer was. Highly recommended to those who enjoy American Wheat Ales since this is a very drinkable Hefe and more on the light side. Will definitely come back for more of this.

Pours a slightly hazy dark golden yellow color with a MASSIVE frothy white head that takes forever to slowly fade into a lasting ring. Large chunks of soapy lacing left behind.

Slightly spicy and earthy aroma with hints of light fruit, citrus and bready yeast. Grassy hops compliment the zesty spices(pepper, clove) up front followed by the yeast character and some lemon peel. All of these notes are here but are slightly muted. Subtle alcohol and light fruit.

Medium bodied with lots of tight carbonation up front. The bread/yeast character is most prominent with hints of zesty spice, light fruit and citrus. Faint earthy hops up front are complimented by hints of pepper, clove and lemon zest. Kind of watered down and bland with everything just melding together and nothing standing out.
