On cask at Volo
Slightly hazy pale golden colour, one finger of tight white head, sticky head some lace on the glass. Smells of strawberry, light vanilla note, malt is detectable with sweet candy notes. Taste is malty, strawberry is present throughout, vanilla rolls in and finishes with strawberry. Light watery mouthfeel, very light carbonation, not much depth or body. This was a bit of a miss for me, off balance and pretty one dimensional. I can see what they were going for though, needs work.

From a 20L cask at the UW Grad House. Welly's one-offs series continues...
Poured into a Welly nonic, on a record-settting hot day. Served a few degrees above kegroom temperature. Light honey-golden, slight haze, a bit of big-bubbled head typical of a cask.
Nose is strawberry jam, lemon, a touch of vanilla, a bit of wheat malt.
Starts off tasting a great deal like their Silver Wheat, but with a hint of strawberry preserve. The vanilla is more potent, coming in towards the finish. The whole thing feels a bit watered down and there's a metallic twang I'm not digging, but I must admit it is refreshing. Watery, but solid carbonation for a cask ale.
The strawberry vanilla additions certainly help what I believe is the Silver Wheat base, but it's still underwhelming. Perhaps this would be better on draught - ice cold and effervescent. The weakest of the one-offs, but it's admittedly just not a style I'm particularly fond of.
