Notes/Commercial Description:
Our salute to Belgian style fruit Lambic beers, with a distinctly Californian twist. We add select parts of whole oranges at precisely the right point to our amber recipe beer, and the result is this magical, orange sweet beer we call Orange Blossom Amber. This brew is crafted with only natural ingredients, specially malted barley, our proprietary yeast strain, and pure spring water from our historic Indian Wells Spring.

Poured into BarrelHouse Brewing pint glass
A: Pours like a hazy orange soda orange with a moderate amount of head that lingers
S: Artificial smelling orange with a little malt sweetness behind it
T: Orange of some sort, some sweetness, but that's about it. No hop bite whatsoever. Bottle claims it is brewed with orange peel and I get a little of that, but it more tastes like an off brand sports drink.
M: Pretty light, moderate carbonation that is very welcome so it doesn't feel like you're drinking a flat soda.
O: This one confuses me. Despite being called "Orange Blossom Amber" it shows none of the qualities normally present in an amber ale. On top of that it comes off as very artificial despite claiming to use only "honest ingredients". Maybe they found the sweetest orange peels ever, though I doubt it. To me, this is closer to orange soda than it is to an amber ale.

Appearance: Hazy amber in color, with a small off-white head, scattered thin lacing, and slight carbonation.

Aroma: Understated aroma of caramel malt and artificial orange, somewhat like a sports drink.

Taste: Opens with modest caramel malt and a Gatorade(tm)-like orange flavor. As the taste progresses, the orange flavor rises a bit, and loses none of its artificial character, managing to overshadow the caramel malt. Finishes with a slight herbal hop presence and a strong artificial orange flavor.

Mouth feel: Smooth, soft, a bit thin, with just a hint of carbonation.

Drinkability/notes: A rather mediocre example, which could have been far better, with more natural orange flavor and a more substantial malt profile.

Presentation: Packaged in a twelve-ounce brown glass bottle with a pry-off crown, served in a New Belgium Brewing chalice.

Bottle pour at Field Of Drafts held at The Hanger in Lancaster, CA.

Pours a hazy orange with a foamy orange-tan head that settles to wisps of film on top of the beer. Small dots of lace slowly drip into the remaining beer on the drink down. Smell is of malt, grain, orange sports drink, and orange soda aromas. Taste is much the same with orange soda flavors on the finish. This beer has a low level of carbonation with an almost flat mouthfeel. Overall, this is a poor beer that is much more like an orange soda than real beer.

Like an orange soda with a little bit of bitter beer flavor. Was this supposed to be a hefe with orange concentrate added? i dont know, but i think they should've gone that route.

I get a heavy citrusy flavor that is too sweet to be enjoyable. Beer was clean and crisp but just over the top with the orange soda flavor. either make a beer or soda, don't do both.

bought at bevmo in long beach.

Pours a slightly hazy copper orange. Get a decent whiff of oranges and orange peel. Taste is similar, orange, fizzy, but artificial. Taste is reminiscent of some sort of orange medicine.

I'm usually a big fan of fruit beers but this really doesn't do it for me. All around unimpressive and no real typical beer characteristics going on here.

Big white head above a clear orange-copper colored beer with a nice long lasting lacing.

Off brand orange soda aroma with some light grain malts backing it up.

Light orange soda taste, definitely an off brand, not the Nesbits or Orange Crush, but more towards the generic brand orange soda with a light grain malt added to at least let people know its a beer and not a soda.

A light dry aftertaste with some slight orange flavors on this light bodied beer.

I'll pass on a second one of these.
