Appearance: Deep mahogany with a prominent undertone. I had to work to get a good head, but after some vigorous pouring, I found myself with a moderate, velvety beige head. Moderate head retention, no lacing.

Smell: Nicely rounded malt character, with some hints of orange and sugar cane.

Taste: Subtle. Nothing jumps out at you, but the result is still quite good. Toasted malt appears at the beginning and sticks with you clear through to the finish, where it picks up some toffeeish notes a touch of hop bitterness, and some husky, tannin bitterness (though not much).

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, smallish bead.

Drinkability: I don't know that this rates as a good doppelbock, but it's a good beer. It's how I imagine a really good, malty mild ale should taste.

Poured from a 500 mL bottle into a pint glass.

A: Dark amber color. Kind of murky looking. Leaves a small white head that leaves a good amount of lacing.

S: Smells of dark fruits, raisins, some caramel, and malts.

T: Tastes pretty much just like it smells. Nicely balanced, has a little bit of hoppiness to it as well.

M: Medium-bodied, kind of creamy as well. Good amount of carbonation.

O: Good doppelbock, although there isn't really anything in this beer that "wows" me. Tastes kind of like Raisin Bran, which isn't a bad thing. Awesome bottle art, too.

A: Deep copper color and the medium-tall, beige head is very compact but bit light. Dissipates slowly into decent lacings.

S: Rich sweet, dark malt. Dark dried fruits, some bitter hops. Very bready, almost like Swedish rye crisp-bread. Some faint citric notes.

T: Syrupy sweet, very sweet. Lots of dark dried fruits, raisins and plums. Faint bitter hops in the back, but this is very sweet.

M: Smooth and thick, creamy body with low dissipation and a sweet, but short aftertaste.

O: Nice Doppelbock, perhaps a bit too sweet (!?!?) if that even is possible when it comes to Doppelbocks.

Appearance: Dark chestnut; good head poured straight; head long lasting

Aroma: Malty; sweet; slightly hoppy; dried fruit

Taste: Juicy malt on start; good hoppy/sweet finish; not complex, but fairly well balanced

Remarks: Did not score A, T, S, M at that time; disregard those scores
